1921 Hudson Touring Car Found in Wisconsin

Hello,

I just talked to a farmer near where I live in Wisconsin, who pulled a 1921 Hudson out of his woods. His father owned the car and the shed fell down on it in 1971. They parked the car out in the woods to sit until today. He might be interested in selling the car to the right person. Is there anyone in Wisconsin that might be interested a really rough Hudson. It has the complete drive train and all four fenders. The hood, doors and body is gone aside from the cowl. The dash is intact along with the radiator and radiator shell, emblem is missing. It has solid steel wheels with the super six center caps, one wheel is misssing. It has a spare tire carrier on the back with really rough running boards. It looks like a touring car that I found on line but this car had suiside front doors with two bucket seats, he has the seats and one headlight also. I would like to know what it is worth and what you are willing to pay for the car before I put you in touch with this very nice old farmer. He has memories of his mother and father with this car and thought he might scrap the car. I told him there is someone out there that could restore this car. The serial number that was on the cowl tag is 528236. The model number was worn off from the tag.

Thank you,

Carl

    That serial number, 528236, would be for 1924 Hudson, 2nd Series. Serial numbers ran 500000 thru 526856 for 1st series (Intro'd Dec. 1, 1923), 526857 thru 562016 for 2nd series (Intro'd Jun. 16, 1924).

The only other serial number that 528236 would fit into would be 1920 (50000 to 59499), but those numbers are for a 1920 4-Pass. Coupe.

Another method of determining the year would be to check starter, generator, or distributor numbers, if these are still on the engine. This will work most of the time unless the components have been replaced with later (or earlier) units.

1921 Hudsons used the Delco system; starter/generator # is 188, distributor is 5223. 1924 models used the American-Bosch system; Starter 926, generator 1217 and distributor TC-6100.

Sad but doubt it is worth hardly anything. Not much left and what is left is questionable. Cost and time to restore would be enormous.

It's got to have plenty of valuable drive train parts to other 24ish owners who may be trying to piece projects together.

    Good find for someone...
  • If someone steps up to buy this to save it - I will haul it

It would have to roll or need to be loaded/unloaded off

    my open trailer.

Call me if you come up with a plan,

Any chance we could see some photos of what is there. I have been known to bring back some pretty sad cars. Depending on how much is there--I might be willing to have a go at it?
