Looking for a vintage axle shaft dealer
So all you sharp eyed long time enthusiasts, any ideas? I've looked through Hemmings and found no one who deals in replacement axles for any kind of car let alone a 32-33 Terraplane. I have had some people offer names of club members who might have something, but I wanted to try to buy something new, if possible, and not use up parts belonging to club people who will be the last resort. Ten years ago I bought two NOS axles for my '35 Hudson from someone in Missouri who had a mountain of axles and knew what they were! Can anyone help?

Did you try Northwestern Auto Parts? http://www.northwesternautosupply.com/inquiry-form.htm0

I just did--thanks John. We'll see what they turn up.

Try Currie Enterprises or Moser or DTS They all sell rearend housings and axle packages. I am sure they could supply what you need, or at least point you in the right direction.

Wait a minute! I thought we had this problem solved! See the separate thread http://www.classiccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17429
(All the more reason to avoid duplicate threads; you get two of them kicking around, each one attracting its own replies....kind of hard to keep track of!)0 -
Well, the problem is not solved. Northwest Auto replied that they cannot help, and www.vapinc.com has not yet replied. Nor has Tom from Massachusetts
who Pete B. says has a complete rear axle.0 -
Ivan if you are really stuck the Railton Club would be sure to have one, I know they say they have most bits including axle shafts. They were very helpful when I needed a '36 water pump, it arrived by airmail just a few days later.
I joined the club as they have parts for the '33 ET for example the twin points and the rotor with the line marked to correctly time the second set of point opening.0 -
Making a new axle shaft is a straight forward job for a machine shop. Should not be too expensive, try to find one of the smaller dad and son type shops.0
