where can you get plastic covers to form to the seats for protection?

  • One option: Keep an eye on e-bay. The factory fit covers pop up now and then.

There used to be a direct mail aftermarket supplier that provided great custom fit covers in a clear vinyl material by the name of Fingerhut up in Minnesota. I don't know if they are still in business, and if so if they would still be aboe to provide covers for Hudsons, but it might be worth some research.

I think Fingerhut is/was in Hutchinson, Minn. Probably had other sites as well, was a pretty big co. involved in luggage as well . My sister worked for them yrs ago {many } I can find out if they are still there if you would like. BUD---- EDITED--- TOOK the easy route, type FINGERHUT in your browser, still there and has a contact them link. My suggestion on your needs is just go to a local upholstery shop and have them custom made.
  • I would never use plastic covers but that is my personal taste. ( I think they look tacky)plus they are sticky when warm and your skin sticks to them if you're wearing shorts. Cold and slippery when cold. I use blankets such as a mexican blanket when I want to protect a seat. just MHO

What does a Canadian Blanket look like ? Just thought about north, south blanket styles ?
  • Actually that would be a Hudson Bay blanket which is not a bad idea.

Hi all. I work in marketing for Fingerhut and just came across this thread. I'm checking with our merchandise team to see if we still carry those seat covers since they don't seem to be listed anywhere on our website. Hopefully I will at least be able to point you in the right direction as to where to find them if not through us.

  • So it looks like even though Fingerhut first made a name for themselves by selling only car seat covers like the ones in question here, we got out of that business decades ago. It’s my understanding the when we were selling them, in the 60s, they were custom installed so you needed to bring your car into a Fingerhut shop.

Your best bet now is probably a local upholstery shop as 37 Terraplane#2 mentioned. Or you can check out another online retailer such as jcwhitney.com or seatcovers.net.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good Luck with your search!

see if I I'm wrong here.

I ordered a set of Fingerhut Plastic Seat covers ready made for my 1957 Hudson Hornet Hollywood from JC whitney. Yes they were cold when it was cold and sticky when it was hot.
  • I don't believe you would have been able to purchase any Fingerhut-branded items through JC Whitney since the companies would have been competitiors back then.

But, perhaps they purchased our remaining inventory when we got out of that business back in the 60s? That's a possibility I guess. Unfortunately, no one around here seems to know.

As an aside, I did find this on the JC Whitney site: http://www.jcwhitney.com/Vinyl-Plastic-Seat-Covers/GP_2006858_N_111+10201+600015716_10101.jcw
