Got back home from the Western Regional Meet. What a good time Bettie, I and our son Rick had with old friends and meeting new ones. This was Rick's first meet. I liked to answer our shuttle drivers questions about all the Hudsons driving around, and parked all over the Yosemite Valley floor. She was talking on her speaker system so everyone on the shuttle could hear the conversation. Back at the Inn I enjoyed seeing and hearing responses from those Hudnuts first time visit to Yosmite to the question, how did you like Yosemite? Their eyes lit up and the words they shared of the beauty of what they saw when they exited the tunnel to enter Yosemite was exciting to hear. There were many very nice Hudsons in attendance. The red 47 sedan pictured was fore sale. This car looks much better than the picture. I think the price was $13,000. Then, there was the swap meet. I found a 47 Hudson blue pickup model that matched the color of my pickup. Just had to have it. We hated to leave. Everyone there was invited to John Cook's home to see his collection of cars. So, on our way home we and others made a side trip to his place. John, his wife Ruby, daughter Brenda, and grandson Mathew were gracious hosts. They showed us around his collection and gave us a little history on many of the cars and other memoribility on display. Congratulation to John and Ruby on there 64 wedding aniversary tomorrow. Thanks to all who worked so hard making the Western Region Meet another memorable event. Lee and Bettie

Lee- I had to leave early Sat AM and missed going to John's house. Can you tell us about the cars that John has in his collection? Niels

Niels, sorry you had to leave early. You would have enjoyed the visit. Even the view of his property from the deck was worth the trip. Off to the right were ducks crossing a large pond on his property and to the left, deer were running through the trees and between his cars. Some cars are in the garage. Others are under sheds and in rows outside. John has approx. 50 cars on his property. Some that come to mind are: 34 or 35 Hudson or Terraplane Coupe w/rumble seat, a Boat Tail w/ rumble seat, a very nice 36 Hudson 4 dr, a very nice Packard convertable, many step downs, a couple of 47 Hudson 4 drs, and a few brand X's. There was one unique step down with a camper built into it. A couple of tractors built during the depression made from 36 Plymouths. There was so much to see that you could go through it many times and still see something you missed. Lee

:)My wife Kathie, myself, and the dogs left fairly early Sunday morning to head home. Arrived home around seven, long trip, 755miles round trip. Sure was different from the dessert. We did not go into Yosemite as my wife did not like the curvy road. It was windy enough just getting to Oakhurst. Nice area, lots of natural beauty. A great place to hold a Western Regional Meet. We had a wonderful time, sans our Hudson. One of thses days I hope to get one of ours where we can trust it for a trip.

I want to thank everyone involved in putting on such a fantastic get together. It took a lot of work and time. Those who left early and the ones who were unable to attend missed a great time. The dinner was great and the raffle was even better.

Again I say thank you, Arnie in Nevada

PS. There were seven members from the Silver State Chapter in attendance.
