First, are the 1938 and 1939 radiators the same?

Second, where is a good place to have an aluminum radiator made?

Thanks,

Kevin

    Kevin,

Don't know about the first question, I'm sure someone will help you out on that. For an aluminum radiator, I had one made for my '49 stepdown at this place. I'm really happy with it, and it was reasonably priced (about $500 shipped), although this was about five years ago now. I have been amazed at how cool my car runs with this, even with the AC cranked, and idling around a busy car show, it never goes over 180 degrees!

(Look at the photo gallery to see a pic of my radiator)

I believe they are the same except the 8 radiator a lot thicker than one for a 6.
  • This is great info, thanks a bunch. The reason for the first question is that I need a radiator for my 38' and I don't have my old one to use as a template. Instead of finding another old radiator and having it re-cored I thought I would have a new aluminum one made for about the same price. I have access to a 1939 radiator with an 8 cyl. engine. If I use that as my template will the new radiator fit? I'm assuming so... Any other thoughts.

    Thanks again,

    Kevin
