Starting in 1952 Hudson relocated the muffler to under the right side of the car below the rear seat and included a resonator at the end of the head pipe. Most dealers and muffler specialists usually did not replace the resonator when it was time to replace the system, and a longer intermediate pipe was available from most sources for this purpose.
