Wow - what a job they did marketing the ad. Tons of pictures and they didn't hide a thing :eek:0 -
Nice pics. Much of the description is full of hyperbole and reminds me of a cheap real estate agent.0

Nice to have the videos that makes a good view of the car. Not to keen on having the underside of the car painted the body colour like that. Prefer it to be black and undercoated. Still a nice car with a pitch designed for someone who has never seen a Stepdown before.0

:rolleyes:Here we go with another dealer trying to damage the hobby. I can imagine that he probably thinks the car is worth as much or more than the "parade" car asking price. We all know what the parade car is worth.
I will say it appears to be a nice Hudson, however '50 Commodore Sedan's do not seem rare. There is the typical dealer BS in the ad. Hope the Hudson finds good home for a fair price. Arnie in Nevada0 -
Hello, my name is Foy and I authored the ad for this car. I write dozens of ads each month for the company I work for, Viva Las Vegas Autos. We sell vintage classics, muscle and specialty cars and this is the first Hudson I have had the pleasure to research.
Before writing about a car I know little about (Detroit muscle is my personal passion) such as this awesome Hudson, besides researching the history and current market conditions I try to read the forums to acquaint myself with owners of the car I'm going to write about. That is how I found this site. Hardly something a typical dealer would do that had no regard for the hobby.
My only defense for the "hyperbole" is the sincere enthusiasm I experienced the more I read about this unbelievable car. The more I discovered about Hudsons in general and this car in particular, my fondness grew and that is some of what you read in this presentation. I suppose I should appologize for falling in love with this car. Again, a typical dealer would never afford someone like me the time and resources to accurately tell the story as I did. I strongly disagree that we are doing "damage to the hobby." If anything, I'm honoring the lengthy and expensive effort a restoration like this represents.
Having seen the "parade car" along with my own close involvement with this Commodore 6, (that's me driving in the video) I can tell you any comparison betwen the two is ludicrous.
As for "flowing BS" I will choose to focus on the word "flowing" and view it as a compliment. I suspect some of these comments come from the negative perception many people have about car dealers. If you really consider the effort and time required for a vehicle presentation like this, it may be easier to see that we certainly are not typical.

FYI- This was posted on Yahoo about your dealership. Why? Also went to your website and did not see you carrying any inventory- just was curious.

P.S. I'm only 51, but if you are around when I die, I want you to write my eulogy!0 -
That was posted by my boss's brother. (the owner of this company) My boss purchased a car near where his brother lives that his brother felt should have been his to purchase. The already strained relationship descended to ugly and untrue accusations made toward my boss. We cleared up as many of his false posts as we could but many still remain.
We have a lengthy and impressive list of satisfied customers that would be more than happy to wax poetic about our treatment of them throughout the buying process.
And, thank you - never wrote a eulogy and hope the need for one for you is very far into the future.

I know nothing about Viva Las Vegas but decided to Google them, and after about four pages found no news items about Ponzi schemes or mothers left out in the snow, to freeze to death. Which doesn't necessarily prove anything I guess, except to say that they may be on the up-and-up!0

I was in Vegas on business a month back and drove by your dealership. Being a car guy I stopped in and looked around. From what I saw at the dealership I expect that all that work there have the same passion that you have. All that I met were that way. I told them up front that I was a "tire-kicker" and not a buyer but the friendliness of the gentleman that was assisting me was not diswaged. I very much enjoyed my visit, loved the cars that I saw and met some really great people. The cars were high quality and most not my taste but considered by most as collector cars. I like that you were willing to join with us on our forum and explain who you are and relate your passion for your work. This Hudson is a very nice car. It is not perfect, but would be a great addition to anyones collection. My attitude is to put the car out there and see what the market will take. Car prices continue to be on the upswing and what I thought a Hudson was worth last year is proving to be a low end figure. When you get a buyer mention our forum. We would love to help with any information/parts and enjoyment that we can. And good luck with your work. I appreciate your passion.

Thank you, Mr. Peterson for the kind words. We welcome tire kickers or anyone else who likes to see cool cars in a relaxed environment. Our inventory changes often so, if you are in the area again feel free to drop by.

I just realized that you might be connected with the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles. Is this correct?
My cousin, JIM STRADER and his son Jimmy worked there for many years and
I had the pleasure of seeing the fine Museum a few years ago.. Sadly it was after Jim had passed away.
Anyway just wanted to say hello0 -

Edwin L. "Brownie" Petersen OK NOW WE GOT IT STRAIGHT. Thanks Brownie0 -
I agree 100%....Rather than taking pot shots at someone who is EXCITED about a Hudson we need to do more to encourage them..
I remember when I first got my Wasp...I wanted the whole world to know what a wonderfull car my HUDSON is and I probably got a bit carried away.
Better to be over enthused than be an old fart with a negative attitude.0 -
TOM, I deleted my own post, better to let JON and TED give they're opinion on this thing. BUD0

I love the car- just made legitimate fun at the great hyperbole of the ad... car speaks for itself. A dealer excited? Besides, old farts with negative attitudes are entertaining.
Funny but I have an interested buyer for the car. Same guy that bought that 51 Racing Replica Hornet Coupe out of AZ a month or so ago. I guess we shall see if they want to sell it.0 -
Bill A, do you still have the 49 Brougham for sale?

No one here has said anything inappropriate; everyone has been more than gracious. All comments were greatly appreciated.

The fine folks that run the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles do a great job with the display and ownership of some of the funnest moments that I have enjoyed. I love to walk around the place as a "Petersen" But; Alas--no Wil would give this one an "Alack" because we are related only in our passion for fine collector cars. My company "Petersen Historical Automobile" was named so when I started building and selling items and cars back in the early 70's. I am proud to be mistaken for them--it helps me maintain my standards. Thanks,
Brownie0
