Hudson TV Interview
FYI
Our Area TV Station does a Historical Special twice a Month. Last weeks Special Report was on old Area Race Tracks. complete with pictures and color video. The old Drivers they found to interview had some very nice comments about my Hudson's were hard to beat. I was both suprised and flattered.
The Station received a lot of positive comments on that Special but many asked why I was not part of the Interview since I still drive Hudsons.
This Tuesday night the Reporter that did the Special called to apologize for not doing his homework better to include me. He assumed that I lived outside the area, then asked if he could do a follow-up Story on my lifelong passion for Hudson's fron Racing days to Present
Being a once in a lifetime opportunity, I agreed providing they minimize my racing and talk more about Hudson's. I tried to buy some time to prep my cars and clean the garage, but they are coming tomorrow morning regardless....I have compiled a lot of Hudson Info and Pictures, many are duplicates of Pictures I donated to NC Hall of Fame Race Museum of the Fabulous Hudson Hornets. I plan to mention Hudson's 100 Anniversary, the Detroit National, HET Club's 50th Anniversary, and Australia's 40th. ....
The Special will Air next Thurs (if I dont break the camera) and I wont know what will get edited... I will try to obtain a copy then worry about Posting afterward.
I was never this nervous whenever I strapped into a Racer....

They likely use equipment us peons don't have and we couldn't play it back. , Maybe you could {if you don't have it} get somebody with a dvd or vcr hooked to their TV to record it when it airs. It could then be formated to post from that . ---BUD0 -
Outstanding! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll do fine and I hope I get to see the video in one format or another.:)
I wish you good luck.0 -
Try to find someone to post it on Youtube!0
-
My guess is that upon request, the station will give you a copy of the program on a DVD.0

Thanks for all the responses. The TV Interview went fine. They stayed way past their allocated time, almost 2 hrs . I covered a lot regarding Hudson's in general, mentioned the Anniversaries, and this yrs Centennal Nat's. Not sure what will get Air time and what will be edited out. In hindsight wish I could have said some things little differently.
Regarding Posting, I can pull up the Story on the Station's Web Site next week after it airs Thursday.0 -
That's awesome, Ol Racer. Hope we all get a chance to see and hear it. I'm sure you did great! (It's funny how things change when the camera rolls, isn't it?)0

Can The First Show On Hudson Racing, Be Downloaded On Here. That Sounds Interesting Also.0

That's a great news story! It just makes me that much more excited to see your interview.:)0

Wow Ol racer, it seems that you were the force to be reckoned with. The one to beat. Very cool. I look forward to the follow up interview.0

Thanks all the nice comments.
The Race Report is nearing 2nd place Ranking in all their Specials Reports to date. I hope this Follow Up Report turns out as well (even though I am not a very good public speaker)
. However, they seemed truly interested in Hudson even off camera, so I let them take a lot of my collection of old Pictures & Information, especially from the Fabulous Hornet Period to sort through then return to me later. I think my collection of Hudson memoribila & Info overwhelmed them....
The Station plans to build 'Viewer hype' all week by doing teaser Promo for the Thursday night Report begining Monday.
I should mention that I vaguely remember the competitor that made the nice comment about Hudson (and I did not pay him to say it). At first I was very reluctant to do a follow-up to the Report, but they were persistant and it presented a rare opportunity to get Hudson some TV reconigtion, especially this Centenial year. More later....0 -
I remember back in the mid-to late 50's racing against anything that had wheels on it on the old 1/3rd (common), 1/4 (rare) and 1/2 (even rarer) tracks just cut out of some farmers back 40. Flat as a bowling alley, red clay that thru up dust clouds you couldn't see thru (or, if they watered down the track was like roller skating on an ice rink) it was a hell of a time and fun that couldn't be beat.
Yeah, there were Hudsons in the crowd (we were running 38, 39 Dodge or, sometimes Plymouth, coupes with '53 Dodge Red Ram 241 hemi's). As I recall the older pre-48 cars did better on the shorter tracks; the step-downs were really to heavy and big for a 1/3rd mile track - tho, even so, they didn't do to badly. I remember a couple that kept their radio antenna's in place - it's annoying to be passed by a guy with his radio blaring out the rock-and-roll songs of the eral.

Regarding my recent TV Interview about Hudson[/I].
This began as a big suprise to me since I did not know anything about the first old Race Track Story, and the former Driver that mention my winning Hudson I had not seen in 50 yrs.
The Reporter, David Belmondo, assumed that I lived out of the area being a low key guy then when people sent feedback that I still restore and drive Hudson's called to apoligize and asked to do a follow-up Story on my passion for Hudson.
It turned out to be less than ideal day raining off & on but it took 2 hrs to shoot and I left them with a 'lot of Info' but unfortionately the Story got cut down to fit into their allocated timeslot, and some things I requested mentioned were ommitted...
However, far more importantly, Hudson got a lot of Air Time all wk leading up to the Newscast. The Station did 'Teaser Shot partial pictures' of my Hudsons to perk viewer Interest to watch Thursday Nights Report. Plus the Story appeared during the next mornings News and peaked a lot of viewers memories.....
If you like to view the Report click the Links below, then If you like the Story perhaps consider sending the Station's Reporter, David Belmondo, a brief note to help raise the Story's Rank to # 1. I think its currently ranking #3.

Thanks, Ol' racer0

GREAT OLD MEMORIES !! Those were the days when anyone could go raceing, you did'nt have to mortgage the house to build a race car. And in my humble opinion much better than todays high speed parades . Great job on the show guy . BUD0

Nice piece. Nice collection and way to keep those Hudson's in the public's consciousness.0
-
Great Story, And Fantastic Cars And Trucks.0
-
Thanks for all the compliments.
In hindsight I wish they would have mentioned all the 'Firsts' Hudson introduced to the Auto Industry. However it was a free Clip and a rare opportunity to get Hudson some Press that surely stirred a lot of memories ....0 -
Great story! Glad I got to see it, and congratulations.:)0
