Bug Screens
Do any of you know if Hudson sold bug screens for the front of your car? I remember as a young lad you would see cars with these ugly ( but effective ) bug screens that attached to the bumper somehow to keep the car clean on long trips. I was thnking of doing this on the hiway to keep the bugs from messing up the front of my car...might even help keep rock chips to a minimum.

If you don't want the ugly bug screen , rob the wife's kicthen and spray a good dose of PAM on it. Yeah that's what I said , ask any old trucker that runs Florida, it works . BUD0

Bud, Sounds like you ran into those nasty swarms of love bugs Bud. LOL. Whatever you do don't EVER put on the wipers. You'll be scraping off that mess for days. Oh, and lets not forget the wonderful quality of paint removal from your car if those critters aren't washed off. Yeah Bud, you're right about PAM it does work. Been there done that.0

I have one of those bug screens, I found it in the trunk of my parts car, it is in good shape, I use it on my jet now and then, It is shaped like the grill in a 40 Buick.
Also i used too race stock cars on dirt tracks, We used too spray WD-40 on the car too keep that clay form sticking, after a few laps on a "sticky track" that clay would stick and add a lot of weight.

I'm not sure they offered bug screens at least maybe the factory didn't. Aftermarket I would assume. I've only seen pictures of Hudson's with screens on the stock car races.0

I've had a few but not sure if they were bug screens or ones used to keep radiators warm in the winter. I remember one was for a '39; it was NOS amongst bunch of parts I bought from a dealer.
By the way, saw an article in today's paper talking about how many Chrysler dealers were going to be closed by them. It listed the ones in the state + interviewed one who said "There has been a dealership here in Mesa since 1938 when my dad sold Hudsons - - -" & went on to say he was going to stay open & just sell used cars. If it was closer I'd look up the address, or call them, & see if building the one originally used when it was a Hudson dealer & if so, pay it a visit!!!0
