whats the demand for good Hudson engines?

I have just posted pics of some rust damage on my own 49' hudson supersix sedan and noticed there are quite a few people looking for engines, tranny's, etc. I myself found it (almost) impossible to find parts for these engines and drivetrain. So, I started with the idea of yanking the entire drivetrain out of my 49' and going to something a little different. Something similar to Rambo's Ride. I thought about posting it on ebay or craigslist but before I do would anyone be interested?......Granted I have yet to snatch it out but if anyones interested let me know. Bye the way it does run.

    Why is it that you cannot find parts for your engine and drivetrain? Parts for the Big Six of '48 - '56 are readily available from Hudson vendors like Dale Cooper and Dave Kostansek. Transmission and rear end parts can be gotten from Al Saffrahn. What parts do you need?

    What it's worth to anyone depends very much on where they are at and where it is at .

    I guess I haven't looked that far into it. I had trouble locating head gaskets for a while and finally found some, and as far as the cam goes one guy told me all they could do it regrind or resurface it and told me they didn't make after market cams for them. I don't know whats true and whats not. Honestly I'm not at all interested in rebuilding the engine in mine..(runs good anyways)....I have my heart set on dropping a 445c.i. 390fe ford into it.

    you should spend a little more time looking at what you can do to a HUDSON motor. I know I would walk right past a 390 insert to look at a real power plant. I would bet that to build up a big block would be close $$ to doing up a sweat 308 and at the end of the day you would have somthing!!

    okay...........I understand pride and loyalty or one thing......but to say the hudson 308 could even begin to compete with the fe is something else all together.......I build drag engines.......big ones. I know what combinations work and what doesn't. A built 308 is definately impressive.....not going to knock it.......but the "real powerplant"......would definately be the 390fe with todays technology........when you get over 500 cubic inch out of a flathead.......then will talk about a "real powerplant"........Your limited on heads, cams, induction, carburetion, valve size, exhaust exit diameter.....etc, etc, etc.....not starting anything here......Physics are well physics......plain and simple......and as far as the money is concerned.......I've done my homework on whats possible for the money. I got off the phone with uncommon engineering laughing........Last 445 390stroker I built for a customer made over 500 horsepower and the torque exceeded that. I doubt the Hudson could compare......
