restored '37 T conv.

Got photos my wife's oldest son took while on a m/c ride in western Colo. of a restored model 72 '37 T conv. with rt. sidemount & loaded with factory & period accessories. Painted Mandalay Ivory.

It's in a museum in Gateway with 45 other cars - may try & stop there on way back from Pontiac.

    Hmmm.... Duke Marley restored one a few years ago, which had sidemounts and was ivory or yellowish....

    Thats his car Jon. A real beauty. I remember when he got the sidemount well welded on. If I remember right the car didn't have one but he wanted one so he had one made.LOL.

    It's nice, of course, that the car is preserved and in a museum where many can see it and appreciate the splendid job Duke did on restoring it. But it's sad, in a way, because the car is (presumably) no longer being driven, out on the road, under the sun, top down, bringing a smile to the lips of both drivers and passers-by.



    Fortunately, the Hudson club has always consisted of a small but active band of enthusiasts who understood that the real joy of antique cars was in using them for the purpose for which they were originally manufactured. Like Hedley and Pattie Bennett, for example, who drove their rare and stunningly-restored 1939 woodie wagon from Canada to Virginia and back, this last weekend, at highway speeds. In other clubs that car might have been trailered to a local meet...if it was allowed to leave its climate-controlled cocoon at all.

    Jon - and remember Jack Smith driving any of several of his '29 Hudsons from w. Canada to HET Nationals?

    This car in Colo. only has a single rt. sidemount, NOT duals, so might not be the same car?

    Jon - just looked at exc. photos again: only has single rt. sidemount, dual spots, "banjo" steering wheel, optional center front bumper guard, dual taillights, fender skirts, but doesn't appear to have EH.

    My step-son-in-law (is there such a thing?? LOL) is sort of a professional photographer so the pics taken VERY good considering the conditions.

    If you ever get a chance to drive thru Gateway you better "Getter done"!!! Even if you don't stop at the museum it's beautiful country. It's the road less traveled!! You would never think of a car museum in that country. The museum does have some rare and beautiful cars too!! Here is an example of some of them.

    thanks Bowtie, that's it, so if Duke put dual sidemounts on his, this isn't it.

    I have several other photos, as mentioned, inc. 2 of the dash.

    Duke didn't put dual sidemounts on it. This one is his. Very nice pix BTW. If I remember right Duke said that the second spare wheel would have hindered getting into and servicing the engine . The engine compartment was as neat and clean as the outside. I think Duke's had a spotlight and rearview mirror combo as well.
