lost/no title in louisiana question

HI folks, I have another vehicle I bought with a bill of sale only. The guy swore over the phone He had it, when I went to pick the car up, guess what!......."uh...I must have lost it yesterday, But you can get one"......12 years later I'm told by a lady at a place called title works (picking up plates for my pickup) that ownership IS nine-tenths of the law, and If i've owned it at least ten years I didn't have to go through all the crap with searching for the last registered/titled owner, just needed my bill of sale. Now thinking about that, I'm not doubting the lady, just wanting to know if anyone else has heard of this. Being she's not with the DMV I want to make sure first. Everytime I go to the dmv its a nightmare!......I think they make my life miserable on purpose lol!

  • Try Broadway title company, I have gotten a couple of titles through them, about 150.00 but worth it. No red tape, and it is LEAGAL! however they won't work with some states, I don't know about Louisiana? But it will tell you.

When I bought my Hudson from an autowrecker in Montana, he said he could get me a title for $150. It sounds like he knows someone in Alabama where they didn't even start titling vehicles until the '60s. So he said anything in the '50s or earlier that there isn't really even many questions asked and they will provide a title (for a charge). Then he sells it to me and I transfer the title into my name in my state. All sounds good, but I don't have a title yet....LOL. I have faith....I think he'll eventually come through :-)
