47 Pickup Running Boards.

Some of you noticed that the running boards that came with my '47 purple pickup seemed a bit short. That was, unfortunately, too true.



There was a discussion here about running boards made by by Beckers? about 4 years ago? Does anyone have contact information?



Does anyone have a set of 46-47 pickup running boards in decent shape, that they are willing to sell?



Does anyone have the back part of the boards, aft of the back of the doors, which could be welded onto my front pieces?



What are the options here?



Also, I was able to snag a '46 212 and transmission from a Super Six. I need a clutch and clutchplate, and the speedometer gear drive.



I'd also like to get the correct Hudson steering column, and steering wheel.



Being still clueless, I don't even know where to start looking.



Ebay has already been exhaustively searched.



In looking for a NOS replacement driver door striker plate, everyone that it was suggested here that I contact, either don't have any, or haven't responded.



I'd be in this forum more often, but work has reared it's ugly head, and my hours there are more than I normally care to give.

    with ebay you have to be patient. some things took me a few years untill they were finally listed for auction. just put things your looking for in favorite search and you will be emailed when something comes up. parts for these are a little harder to get than say ford or chevy stuff, but it is all out there. running boards I have never seen for sale, originals that is, I know where one is laying in the back of a 46 truck, owner will not part with unless you buy his house too.

    Just imagine a highly adenoidal, "Missed it by that much.", and you have the compleat story of my luck in grabbing parts from ebay.:D

    You'll find Delton Becker's info on the thread below, just look for my 'post' in that thread. All the info should be correct, except for their email address -

    Be aware, the running boards are a bit pricey... As indicated, you won't find them any place else, unless you are VERY, VERY lucky & patient.

    The striker

    plate(s), steering column, wheel, etc., may take a while as well. The striker plates, steering column, etc., from any '40-42, 46-47 Hudson coupe or sedan are the same and should work. make sure to ask for the steering gearbox, etc., and all the shifting linkage as well, unless it came with the truck. Personally for me, one of the hardest pieces to come by was the horn button. I have been looking for a nice one for 3 years, and JUST got it in the mail this afternoon! NOW I need the guts - spring, wiring for the horn, etc.. - see what I/we mean?



    Guess I'll be stuck with the chev 6 and tranny (which has a leaking seal) for a while. I need all the stuff you listed, plus the clutch/brake pedals, throttle, and then some. OTOH, I can tune up the chev6 and replace the tranny seal. I just didn't want to waste limited resources. I pulled the striker plate off, and sprayed WD-40 in it. That loosened the pawl enough to drop down of it's own weight, and a piece of the broken spring fell out. I suppose those springs are made of unobtanium. Anyway, I re-installed the plate, and by gently closing the door, the pawl will drop down, and hold the door shut. Now the door bolt is sticking. I'll get to that, tomorrow afternoon. also, the passenger door won't open at all, so I have to remove the door panel, to fix the mechanism.

    Check with your local chapter, they may know of some parts cars in your local area - who knows, you may be able to get the parts for a bit of a drive and some wrench turning (?)... Also, the 'technical Advisors', 'Parts car Coordinator' or 'Junk Yard Coordinator' listed in the WTN may be able to assist as well.

    I sent my HET club application in about 10 days ago. Haven't heard anything yet.

    As to "local chapter", right now, it's just me and Ken Cates, here in the HOT.;)



    I think it was actually easier, chasing parts for my 1940 Buick Limited, but that may have been luck.

    As I remember on these cars pushing the lock button down unlocks the door, lifting up locks it--
