My Overdrive works!

:) While under my '49 Hudson Super 6, I noticed two wires hanging near the hples for the pedals. Noticed that the kick down switch was broken. Checked the wires for current and one did. Hooked them together and went for a ride. Pushed in the OD lever and could feel it go into overdrive. Really got cruisin down the four lane, I drove it about twenty miles and made some heads turn and a couple thumbs up. Did not overheat, ran quite well, but does need shocks. Hopefully the road noise will dimminish as I put sound deadener in it and get the upholstery done. This car was purchased as a driver, but it needed lots of work to become one. Hopefully we can take it to a meet as I become more confident with this Hudson. Have a great week. Arnie in Nevada:D

  • we used to have a '54 Wasp, the O.D. didn't work at first,so I did some research, and everybody I talked to said it was probably a bad switch.

I left it for awhile, then one day I had to replace the brakelight switch,I look over at the O.D.solenoid and I can see the wier is disconnected.

I hooked it back up and it worked like a charm...

Get a new kickdown switch from NAPA or 'the jeepsterman'
