from the photo of the Pace Car it was probably Mandalay Ivory whereas the car for sale was originally black (firewall & inner fender panels).

    Sure is rare, irregardless.

It would appear the entire steering wheel has been replace but certainly the center medallion. Would seem uph. is original.

It has column shift whereas floor shift was std. - can't remember if it was '38 or '39 when column shift was offered as an option.

    Interesting car.
  • I'd watch out for this one. The seller will not allow inspection of the vehicle prior to bidding. He / She claims that too many people want to come and see it and that they just can't handle all the cash offers.

This is even below E-bay standards.
  • The seller also admitted that there was no way he could prove this was the Pace Car. However, he is stating in the ad that it is indeed the pace car. He is a crook as far as I'm concerned.
  • This is the same old song we see all the time. Hey folks I have just found the rarest car on planet earth. I want an arm and a leg for it even though you will have to spend 50K restoring it.

If you cannot see it before buying steer clear. My friends 38 convertible looks way better than this one. And if you want to see it come to our Hudson meet at the end of July and you can see it in person.

They have it listed as an 'Automatic' transmission. WTF?
