Still looking to buy that 52 or 53 Hornet Club Coupe

Just an update.... still haven't found that #1 or #2 52 or 53 Hornet Club Coupe. The perfect car would be a 52 Hornet Club Coupe with 3 spd and O/D. I've resorted to start calling members in the roster (starting with California). I've had some great conversations and actually have one member sending me photos but I think the car might not be "correct" enough.

Anyway, please let me know if any of you know of a possible car. You maybe doing a fellow member a favor by helping them sell their car! Top dollar and going to a good home. Please feel free to PM me. I'd like to find one for my buddy before the National if possible. Thanks, Niels

    Niels-

I am keeping my eyes and ears open. If I come across anything, I'll let you know. Calling everyone in the country in the roster is a good start! . . . might take a while, though!;) Let's see, 3800 members, an average of 15 minute conversations, 12 hours a day . . . should be done in 80 days or so. That's well before the national!
  • Don't worry... I'll only be calling those with #1 or #2 Hornet Coupes listed .... not too many when you think about it. Thanks for keeping an eye out!

Neils, I was looking at someone's copy of the April Hemmings today and there is a 53 coupe for sale in NY for $35K. It's not listed on their website yet as they only publicly show last months. Maybe someone here has a copy that can post the information...
  • Seen it... not as described...
  • Update: my buyer ended up buying the 51 Hornet Club Coupe Marshall Teague Replica that was just recently listed on e-bay. From his original wish list, I didn't think this is a car he would be interested in. Anyway, he is very excited and I know the car will go to a great home. From what I have been told, the car was owned and sold by a former Indy race car driver and he actually knew Marshall Teague. This was the inspiration of making this tribute. The engine on the car has about 2,000 miles on it and it was rebuilt by Al Saffron so you know it is a quality engine.

I suggested to my friend that he change the dash back to stock and I am sure he will.

    Another happy Hudson owner. Niels
  • Congratulations on finding a buyer and I am sorry you are such a bitter old man....

Too bad you didn't video the engine bay or under carriage. Not so nice ehh? I am glad you are a "former" Hudson owner.

OOOhhhh . . . stung by a Hornet barb. Niels, I was wondering if you were going to respond to this. Good reply.
  • At first, I thought Fred was really my ex-wife.... they sound just the same.
  • Hey, hey ...if I have to turn this website around I will........Hudson people don't snipe....we laugh and sing.......
  • Everybody has a different opinion and different values they attach to everything
lets all just sing, whistle and get along.
  • Think you're having a hard time finding a Hornet Coupe, I'm still looking for a short wheelbase stepdown Pacemaker, Wasp or Super Wasp SEDAN! in overall good/very good condition here in the Midwest. Still, no luck!

What condition, year range, price range are you after?

BTW July Hemmings has a '52 Hornet Coupe for sale in the $32 K range

I've considered looking into the Wasp advertised in Hemmings (I recently test drove a Super Wasp for sale at $10,000.00 in Green Bay a few weeks ago, but it had a few too many issues). However, it does seem a bit pricey for just a basic three speed Wasp. Still, you never know, it may be worth checking out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm looking for a short wheel stepdown in very good condition in the 7 to 11 "G's" price range.
