People will need to know where you are located?0 -
I would consider somebody transporting for me...
My Hudson has to get to KY from NC.
I talked to U-Haul and they said they can put a class 3 hitch on our car but it won't get approved for either dolly or trailer because of the make of the car vs what it's towing.
So I can buy a trailer or...?0 -

If you were on the west coast I could help you out!
That being said , I wouldn't waste the time or money trying to set your car up to tow with.
Believe it or not theres a reason UHaul won't rent you the trailer - it's not safe!; Even though the Hudson probably weighs less than your car - its the combined weight (trailer and Hudson) thats the problem - oh and stopping or braking ability CANNOT BE OVERLOOKED!
As far as buying a trailer - they're a great investment if you plan to use it, mostly they sit and get dirty though.
If it's just a one-time haul - I'd do the following depending on the condition of the vehicle,
IF it's a nice restored car, I'd hire a covered transport, If it's a builder you could hire a open transport for a lot less.0 -
If I went the open transport way...
any suggestions for good companies?
thanks again to all0 -
Go to ytmag.com- its an antique tractor board, but cars haul pretty much like tractors- on the left side of the home page, in the second block down from the top ("Community"), click on Hauling Schedule. About 27000 guys posting either "need something hauled from X to Y,", or "available to haul something from X area to Y area". Lots of guys just needing a back haul, etc. Generally won't be insured, bonded, etc.- that's never slowed me up much (life is full of risks), but may or may not work for you.0

I'd check around in the car hobby community in your area and see who may have a dolly you could use / rent. I've had success with that approach. If you dolly the car, be sure you scope out carefully what happens when you turn a corner ... lots of fenders have gotten bent up on dollys.0

Can buy a used trailer or new one then sell afterwards. Or try Jim Guinn in Texas. HE makes a circut around the US all the time moving mostly Hudsons. he has moved 3-4 for me over the years and a golf cart too to boot.0
