Don't know what to make of this--I thought the famous robber fancied the eight cylinder 33 Essex Terraplane........Link to the current New York times article about the new Dillinger movie.

  • Dillinger liked Terraplanes and Essexes.

    Clyde Darrow liked V-8 Fords.

The NYT had their head in their butt, as usual.

as I recall from "The Dillinger Days" he did use the '33 T8; one in museum in D. C. area he was using when chased by Chicago police, their bullet still in cowl. He gave his girl friend, Billie, one when in Fla.

As the T8 no longer made in '34 & 5 he would use the H8 (part of the gang drove one to Tucson where they got "snagged") & Buicks as had the best performance for the dollar.

In the current movie a chance to catch him comes when he purportedly is going to buy a De Soto at a used car lot. Early in his career they stole cars, which became a tipoff for the cops, so when flush they'd buy new. Of course sometimes, as seen in movie, they'd just steal whatever was at hand, LOL.
