Hudson Speedo Gear Needed

Hi, I am looking for a speedo gear of 18 teeth or greater. Is there such an animal out there?



Also, if I put larger tires on my Hudson will the speedo read faster or slower?

    Larger diameter tires will slow the speedo down, less revolutions per mile. What year car are you needing it for ? I may be taking an 18 tooth out of my 50C8 as I has 4 5/9 gears and went to 4 1/9.

    This would be for a 51 transmission. Are you putting in a gear with less teeth then?

    Yes, The parts manual lists what speedo(pinion) gear is needed by axle ratio & tire size. My 50 C8 with 4 5/9 axle used the 18 T gear, with 4 1/9 used a 15 or 16T gear depending on which tire is used( 7.10 tire used 15T, 7.60 tire used 16T gear). Hope this helps.

    It does answer my question - thanks. I got a call last night and an 18 tooth gear is coming to me.
