Hudson offered two types of aircleaner the paper and the oilbath.
They stated that the oil bath were optional for drivers in rural regions with dusty roads as the oil bath were better for this type of driving. When the filter got dirty clean with kerosene add new oil and away you went.
The paper type for mostly city driving. Though you saw lots of city drivers getting the oil bath as well.0 -

There were 2 types of air cleaners for all cars. Oil bath was the optional. The other was not paper. The paper filters had not been made then. The standard filter was two rings inner and outer of metal with lots of little holes punched in them about 1 1/2 or 2 inches tall filled something like copper scouring pad metal between them. To clean and service you washed the filter in gas or kerosene ( then it was called coal oil) shake or blow dry, oil good with 40 or 50 w motor oil and let the excess drip off. Put it back together away we went.0

My choice is the oil bath. With mine I change the oil in the filter each time I change the oil in the car. I conclude that the oil bath is far more efficient than the paper filter, looks as it should, and is by far the most attractive option with the hudson engine. MHO:):)0

Chuck,
Yes K-gap and Bill Allbright both have the Twin H decals. I believe one style is adhesive backed and the other a water slide style (like the ones included with the old plastic model cars) They go on the part of the filter that crosses over the cylinder head.0 -
Thanks,
You have been a great help. and your pooch looks to be coming along great !!!
