National Meet - Personal THANK YOU

I had planned on going to Pontiac from the beginning - was going to drive myself up there even tho my car is not in the best shape.

Thanks to this forum I linked up Russell Chilton in Texas and in the course of several emails we worked it out that he would come thru Memphis and pick me up. Works out great for me - split the costs makes it good for both of us.

Russ, I told you this several times on the trip up and back - but I'll repeat it here for everybody to read. This has, with no doubt, been the most fun National I've ever been to because of you and, particularly, your son Miles - and Miles was a big part of it. As I told your wife in an email I just sent her to let her know you were on your way home I would be less than honest if I didn't say I had some reservations about a 5 year old coming with us. I'm am so very happy that my reservations were groundless. Miley was a great traveling companion and being able to baby sit him a few times to give you some space really helped make this National for me.

At my age of 72 I'm beginning to think about where my collection of Hudson stuff is going to wind up. In Russell Chilton, after sharing nearly 1000 miles of traveling with him, I feel that I have found the person that will take care of whatever material I pass along to him. Thanks for one great memory, Russ.

Great Alex ! Glad you were able to attend and had a great time! Hope you were able to sell some of your CD's and books, which are a must for any Hudson owner.

Alex, I'm glad you were able to attend the nat's and had a great trip!

I haven't met Russell in person yet, but I have benefited from his generosity and kindness - so I find your story very heartwarming.

The people I've met online that love Hudsons continue to give me some hope I'll meet more of them in person someday.

Being one who spent the national fixed to the Forum waiting each day to see if Russ was going to post another set of photo's and going nuts with envy with each set that he did post. I owe a great dept to Russ. I expect that the enjoyment you experienced with him and his grandson was typical of the outgoing nature of members of this great club. Anyway, that is the way I have been treated. Glad that you made it to the national and that you were able to experience the true spirit and nature of what old cars do to make each of our lives a bit more enjoyable each day. I say: Good on you Alex and the same to Russ and the members like him.:)
  • The pictures were exceptional! I especially liked the green '37 TP coupe - the coupe sister to my Brougham! That was pretty cool to see.

We all appreciate the pics, very much!!!
  • Thank you Alex!

Judy and I would like to thank you for giving us the room that you had reserved for the National. Without that reservation, we would have have missed one helleva a National. For that and all you have done for this club over the years, we would like to say "Thank you!"

This thread slipped under the radar, as we had a surprise welcoming committee here at the ranch when we got home.

Alex, you are too kind. I owe a big THANK YOU for choosing to share your trip with us. Miles and I had a super time and I still am thinking of our Pontiac adventures every day. Really can't wait till we get to do it again! I'm anxious for you to meet the rest of the family. Vicki is really the glue that holds us all together. Have a wonderful summer, and hope you get to go to Pigeon Forge, it's coming up, right? Hudson folks are the best, Alex and you top the list, I assure you.
