I saw a 1925 (more or less) Hudson coach with a trailer behind it, and California tags, at the National. It had heavy duty rear view mirrors strapped to the sides. Does anyone know if this was driven to the meet?

It was a 1952 (always knew you were somewhat backward, Jon) and it was driven. Somebody posted on here that the car had a Chevy engine in it.

    Jon,

I saw that same car and also wondered if it had been driven there. I do not recall seeing it there the next day.

Nope. It was something in the era of 1924-5-6. Looked original.

I believe it was a 1927 coach from California. They didn't drive it but perhaps they should have, they had mucho trouble with their tow vehicle. Bob C.

Sam Jackson told me that the car arrived in Pontiac Friday evening, after a frustrating trip from California. The Hudson performed okay, but the modern truck (which was following it) had some problems, which slowed things down.

It was interesting to see that the homemade utility trailer had no fenders!

This guy should have gotten some sort of award, but of course the awards were probably being handed out as he pulled in!

It might be nice in the future, to have a pre-StepDown and post-StepDown "long distance" award, though. It's a real feat to drive a 1948 Hudson from California, but it's an even bigger one to drive a '34, as our Kiwi friends did. There should be room to recognize both triumphs!
