This is a great price for a runner...I think I remember this car on CL about a year ago and they were asking almost double.

If someone wants to send me the money - I'll go pick it up for them :D
  • At that price I wonder what is not wrong with it  It seems like a steal. Too bad it is so far away from me (1,770 miles), at that price I would buy it if it was not a rusted heap.

rambos_ride, are you actually close enough and willing to take a look at it?

Tacoma is about 40 mile round trip from my place and a 4.00 toll on the bridge.

Unfortunately I'm not flush with cash right now and don't have any immediate plans to go to Tacoma, but I'd be willing to try and work something out if someone was really wanted the car.

I e-mailed him asking about the unibody, who did the work on the engine & when, and for many more higher resolution pictures. If he actually peeks my interest, I will work with you to make sure it is not a losing proposition for you to take a look at it for a fellow HET member. (Yes I signed up to be a member even though I do not have a Hudson yet) Even for the low price of $3,000 + shipping I do not want to buy a wreck. We want something we can drive the family in now and fix up over time.

For $3000, what do you think he is actually selling? I have found Hudson Hornets selling for $10-11 that I would not have taken for free.

"The intake manifold has been re-cast" . . .????

Other things are a little confusing also, like why a Twin H was put on a 51. Twin H came out in 52, right?

That's not as big a deal. I think the Twin-H was available or at least developed in '51, but became available to the public in '52. There's a blue ton of folks that have Twin-H on '51's and even earlier models these days. Even back in the day, you could always go to your local Hudson dealer and "retro-fit" your car with a Twin-H package. Dealers were more than happy to sell parts!:) What's the difference if a '51 was fitted in '52 (or '53, or '54), or fitted in '04? Not much.

The "re-cast" intake throws me, though. More questions than answers swirl around in my noodle. Like, "Why?", "For what purpose?", "Why didn't you just buy another if yours was bad?", or even "Why didn't you just repair your current intake?". . . . naw, I'll just go out to the garage and cast a NEW one!!
  • My guess would be that at least 60 % of the Hudson you see on the road now came from the fractory with out Twin h. Dont remember any comeing with radial tires either.

I guess I showed my new kid colors  I am here to learn and hopefully find my first Hudson.

Suggest that the prose chosen was while crafting an ad on CL. While recast can bring up many connotations, my GUESS is the truth is the manifold was welded to complete a repair. Hudson Twin H manifolds are notorious for cracks and finding one to ...retro-fit... a car is not without pit falls... cracked manifolds being a big issue.

The existence of the TWIN H on a Hudson engine is as Russell points out; could have been installed at the factory ( 1952 and later) installed as an option (offered by Hudson dealers during the early NASCAR frenzy days, 1952 -on) or installed by one of the cars owners ( 1952 -on).

You will find Hudsons are not ... BY THE BOOK. If one tells you this the gospel according to HUDSON... they are opening themselves to the inevitable ...but I have or I saw or my Hudson experts says... like most of the classic automobile hobby... When we think we know... along comes the anomaly.

Good Luck in your HUDSON HUNTIN' :):):):)

There are a lot of good buys out there and must not be enough people to buy them? I am building two cars right now or I would take a chance on it. It has been too long since I have had a running Hudson and my "other antique" broke down the last two car shows that I went too.... (I should have a trophy for the shortest distance trailered):o:o
