Woodward Dream Cruise, Detroit MI
Whos going to out cruising Woodward next week?
The Cruise officially begins Sat August 15th, but I recommend cruising the whole week before and parking on Saturday. I really hope that the Hudson is properly represented. My 39 is not ready this year, maybe next!

My '39 and/or my '40 will be there. It is a National Holiday for me and a few others from work. I usually cruise Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.0

Just to give you out-of-towners some perspective, altho the actual Woodward Dream Cruise is on Saturday, it is now like a 10 day event. My wife and I have been out there every night since last Saturday and every night there are more cool cars.
Saw my first Hudson tonight, a two tone blue stepdown Commodore. Also spied an Auburn Boattail Speester with the license plate "Buehrig" on it; a Jimmy Dean Porsche Speedster; a facsimile of the Monkeemobile; a nice '64 Buick Riviera (my first car) and a whole bunch of other fine rides -- all in 30 minutes on a Tuesday night!
If you've never been here, do yourself a favor and make it to Motown for the Cruise Week.0 -
Glad to see the Hudson folk are for more receptive to the Dream Cruise. I ventured out into another forum and ran across some kermudgens. Real high end Concourse folk, that don't remember or know what its like to be a regular car guy. They could dish it but sure couldn't take.0

yes, there have been some pics of my car floating around. I have also written a couple articles on the blog highlighted below.
I will have many pics as the build comes around. Right now, she is in pieces...0 -
Gayle and I had the Terraplane out to the dream cruise last night, LOTZZ-O-Carz!!! Nice ones too, some not so much, but then this is a cruise, not a show. Saw a fantastic early 60's Mack truck and his buddy in an equaly cool early GMC truck, these are full size rigs, not pick-ups mind you. Did not see any Hudson products, a few Nashs and some Ramblers too. We are going to Beef Carver tonight around 6:00 and will of course take the Terraplane so any Hudsons looking for a nice place to eat and sit and watch carz go to the Beef Carver see ya there'

We drove the '39 Country Club Eight and the '40 Super Six as well as our electric vehicle conversion all day today, will be back out there tomorrow morning.
There's nothing like driving an unrestored '39 Hudson in a sea of very nice cars. (Actually both my cars are mechanically gone through but not cosmetically).0 -
will see you there! GAyle and I are on our way right after breakdast, it's 754 now we're late!!! We hear the cars from our house (4 miles away)0

Dream cruise was fantastic as usual, even had good weather for the day. about 45,000 cars at the cruise and the list of Hudsons I saw was longer than I have ever seen there. 1932 Essex Super Six, 1933 Essex Terraplane 6 Sedan, 1933 Essex Terraplane 8 convertible, 1935 Terraplane, 1937 Terraplane, 1939 Hudson 6, 1940(ish) Hudson, 1950(ish) Stepdown, 1952(ish) Stepdown convertible.Several of these were restored, some were streetrods. All in all a good showing for the Detroit area.

45,000 cars??? OMG, I thought the Louisville Street Rod Nats were bizarre, they usually have around 12,000 or so. That's enough to make you numb just walking through a show like that. 45,000? There's not that many old cars left, is there?:D0

Is 7 am, the Monday after Woodward Dream Cruise 2009. My head is still spinning from the insane amount of cars that I gazed upon last week.
I setup shop 7:30 am Saturday morning, the official day of the cruise. I had spend 5 hours the Thursday before, 12 on the Friday and then another 12 on Saturday. This year was simply amazing and I have the pictures to prove it. Once I get the exhaust out of my eyes, I will post them for all to see. This event should be on everyones bucket list....0 -
The detroit news-joyrides webb site has alot of pictures.click on the articule and look at pictures.0

Russell, these cars aren't sitting, the cars are moving!!!!! You find a nice comfy chair and sit and watch them go past YOU. Some much faster than others.0
-
No, no. I understand . . . that's just a LOT of cars to see!0
