"Just Another Car Club" hosted the first annual car show today (Aug 15th) in the new shopping area in Puyallup, Sunrise Village, on Meridian around 156th. I dropped in later in the afternoon to find an Elvis impersonator belting out some well-known hits. Not far from the stage, one of the first cars I saw was a 1951 Nash Statesman owned by an Andy & Sue Limbo of Puyallup. Then a little farther down, I was caught off gaurd by a 1935 Auburn Boat-Tail Speedster. When I thought it couldn't get any better than that, I discovered that "one of our own" was proudly displayed... Dave Hudson had his 1947 Hudson Super Six Convertible there! What could compete with that? Perhaps the 1946 Hudson Commodore Eight Coupe owned by a Granstrom family of Port Orchard? As pleased as I was, I think the hosts were the ones most taken back by the fact they had planned for 200 cars and hit the 500 mark!

Nice pics. The popularity of car shows is just huge these days- must not have been many others in the area yesterday. I took the '48 to a few shows the year I got it, but just was irked by wasting a day sitting around (guess I've got "too much on my plate" these days). So nowadays, I tend to drive the Hudson to the show, park in the parking lot, and just walk through the show.

Nice show in Tenino today- will have several hundred cars. Probably no Hudsons, though, 'cause I'm not going. Gotta finish up the income taxes (my extension runs out tomorrow)!
  • We were able to drive our 47 Hudson Com coupe to the Watermelon festival in a city 30 miles away yesterday. Was late getting there but was parked at the entrance next to a Corvette. Guess which one got the most attention?

Yep, the old coupe with its black fading paint job, but great lines and style. Lots of questions. The number of "inspectors" doubled when I raised the hood. One woman with two little kids kept calling it "Doc Hudson". She needed an education but she didn't have time. One guy in his 70's kept saying "and it's all there". Like he was expecting some parts to be missing. Several ask if I drove it or trailered it. Definitely driven, 55-60 mph where the four lane allowed. Ran even better going home. Lots of thumbs-up. Only Hudson at the show. Bob
