  • Chuck,

I did my '52 Hornet distributor with Pertronix' kit #1362P6 for "Chrysler 6 cyl Industrial". It works great, but you do have to drill out the rivets in the point block and remove it because the sensor has to sit right where that block was. You can keep all of the little insulator parts and put it back original again with new rivets or just screws and nuts. I got mine from Retro Rockets in Norfolk, Conn., but you can also get them from Pertronix in San Dimas, CA. I found mine was so far out of time you couldn't make it run, and finally by laying out the angles on paper, I discovered that the magnet ring was either for a different engine or was machined wrong. I called Pertronix and explained what my problem was and they had me send the whole distributor to them and they corrected the bad ring for nothing. Of course, I was out the shipping to get it there. I'm a Tool and Die Maker and was able to measure the cam angle and the angle of the magnets in the ring soas to tell that something was seriously wrong. When I laid the replacement ring over my drawing, the magnets were in a different position, and it now timed and worked great. I also got some black braided sleeving to put over the rubber coated wires on the Pertronix unit so it closer matches the existing wiring. You have to look close to tell it's not original. I paid $122.90 for mine in Dec '07. If you need help working thru the modification, email me at scraig10@juno.com and I'll try to help you any way I can. I just had to figure it out on my own 'cause they didn't tell me it wasn't a bolt on deal.
