Help!

I need help with a problem on a 1954, 308, twin H.

The car runs great at idle and down the road but when I come up to stop, she dies.

I have checked everything I can think of. The car has had a complete tuneup, including electronic ignition, "no points". She checks out on the scope.

Open to ideas.

Comments

  • Sounds fuel related, possible bad carb float level. Try rebuilding the carb and cleaning/changed the fuel flter.

Try checking your idle adjustment screw. Your owners manual should have the correct setting. On my Terraplane it's about one and a half open from closed.

    Gene.

this is good advice. Keep it simple and try the obvious things before you go and re-build anything. Oftentimes it's the simplest things we overlook. If the idle adjustment doesn't solve it, before you re-build the carb, make sure your float a) doesn't have a small leak in it, and

    b) it's set at the proper height.
