Orphan show in Branson, MO
Just got back from a week in Branson- good time had by all.
Saw a readerboard sign "Welcome Orphan Car Show" on a hotel billboard, and turned out there was an orphan car show around behind. Put on by the Studebaker club, so lots of Studes (at least 50). Sad to say, only 2 Hudsons and a Hash. Both Hudsons were '54 Hornets, a "barn find" original 4 door in decent shape (with factory power steering and brakes, which I dutifully lusted after), and a restored '54 coupe (sort of a butterscotch color, with white roof- anybody here know the car?). Even the Kaisers had us outnumbered (a couple of Manhattans, a beautifully restored Taveller, a nice Frazer, and a very pretty Darrin). For the fans of the truly offbeat, there was even a Muntz Jet.
One interesting result was that my wife fell in love with the Avanti (she's fine with my '48 coupe, but not truly smitten)- so she has instructed me to "find one". It's tough work, but I always try to do as I'm told.

At times like that you need to at least complete a charcoal sketch or even better a water color. Just a suggestion.0

I'm still struggling to get my artistic endeavors to the next level- that being to where someone can identify what I have drawn. Not what kind of car, just that its a car.
My children have inherited my abilities in this area- when son was about 4, he brought home a drawing of what appeared to be a very long legged bug. Barely able to hold back tears, he said, "It was s'posed to be a turtle, but it got too much legs."0 -

Thanks for the laugh, even if not intended.
