Light Switch on English Hudson

I need a light switch for my 1936 Hudson eight. I finished up the wire harnes last night and started checking out the leads. All looked good (except that I did wire the two warning lights backwards?) It did not take very long to realize that I have a major problem with the light switch. Does anyone have one or know where I can buy one?

I thought there was a thread a few months ago about this and I searched the files and could not find one... Thought that I read that someone was remaking them?

    Rick,

I got a screen that said: NO matches found. I could not find a field that would permit me to search anything....

looked through the posts tonight and did not find anything related to the 36-8's headlight switch. I attached a photo of the one that I currently have installed. The outside plastic cap is just over a half inch wide and reads lights. Any lead would help. As a mater of fact, I would expect that several other switches would work for this application as long as they are from the 30's and have 5 connectors?

Have you thought of perhaps opening the switch and fixing the problem? Might just be a broken spring, bent piece of metal, corroded or burned contact. It can probably be riveted back together again.

You might also consider installing a headlight relay (hidden behind the dashboard). This takes all the stress off the old (and not that good to begin with) switch. I did this with my '37. Then, the switch only deals with the tiny bit of amperage necessary to signal the relay. Headlights are brighter, too.

You should be able to get some sort of generic switch that will do the job. Most of them are a thre-position pull-switch - off, park, head. I have one on my shelf here if you can't find one. Try Restoration supplies - www.restorationstuff.com
