Installing front springs - need help

Ok, here is what I did to remove the front springs from my 54 Sedan;

1. Put the front of the car on jack stands.

2. placed a floor jack under the lower support arm.

3. Loosened the four bolts then gently lowered the support arm allowing

the spring to drop out. No problems to this point, both sides came out

easily.

Now I am attempting to reinstall and have reversed the above steps.

The passenger side reinstalls with no problems. The driver side, when raising the support arm with the floor jack, is about an inch out of alignment with the holes. The support arm wants to move toward the center of the car. I have tried everything and it will not line up.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Doug

    Murphy's Law is gettin ya. Get some threaded rod thru the holes and keep taking up the nut while you jack it. That will guide the holes into alignment.
