Got to admit that is a nice looking Hollywood - might consider $49k if he'd toss in the deer. Could get a few meals out of the venison!!!!!

Nice car, Nice deer. I am not saying the car is not worth 50K but I know I could build one for a lot less. I have not figured out how to build a deer?0

Really Nice car!
The deer reminds me too much of the scene from Tommy Boy!

Brownie,That's going to be a pretty neat trick, that is building one for less than 50k. Especially since there are many to be found as builders, I'm about half finished with the 53 coupe now and have spent $30k so far, not to mention the cost of the chrome alone as you well know. the pot metal chrome I sent to Fl. was $4,000 Plus $6,500 for the bumpers & the rest the bright work. O.K. then there was the cost of the car to start with $5k. Soda blast $600, buffed all the stainless, Body and paint $15,500, wire harness 1k, Window& new rubber $1,200 and more. Still have engine rebuild, that's in process right now cost???????? then upholstery, Wow you get the picture. So thanks for the compliments, I read all the stuff on the forum, I'ts a kick. I have a to get started on a 52 hornet convertable next, I found it garaged since 1959 with 4,500 miles on it in s. cal last year. I sure ready to enroll in that school in Missouri to show me how to build one under $50k. OH! don't you guys all know your not supposed to feed the deer. I liked what Dan Blocker ( Hoss of the old Bonanza show ) told his son, when he wanted a gun." Dan asked him, what for?". " He said to go deer hunting". So Dan said "sure son" I'll buy you a gun. Just as soon as the deer learn to shoot back. That gold colored pickup 1948 is still here in Calif. in our garage, it sure stirs awhole lot of controversy is or isn't we don't care we love it ! I spoke directly with Charlie Ruvolo a few years back and he told me his truck was in such bad shape when he got It he had to use at least one other donor car totally rebuild that one ground up. So there maybe zero original stepdown pick ups in the world. It is great being part of the club,I look forward to many years of Hudsons. But hands off the deer. Ron & linda Cardoza0

Ron & Linda-
Super nice car! I'd jump on the deal, but I've got 12 deer that live here on my property, although mine aren't nearly as friendly as yours, it seems! LOL!
I sent you a PM.0 -
When I was living in Maine - southern Maine at that and about a mile from downtown - I had a moose that wandered around the neighborhood for about a week. All the ladies were incensed that the thing was eating their flower beds. LOL
Russell, looking fwd, now more so, to a visit your place just to maybe see the deer.

Oh, goodie Nick - can you supply the car before I pay you. I'll need it for a get-away car when I rob a bank for the money. LOL ROFL

Alex, not sure. It is tempting but I'll really have to consider my options as I have been contacted by a very nice Nigerian man who has an equally tempting offer.0

Ron,
Once again, knowing full well that I am just a farm boy from nothern Utah, but I have to comment about the costs of restorations today. Some forty years ago I started building cars as a business/hobby. My concept was that if I could not do it on my own, then it just was not going to get done. My first frame off restoration was a Chevrolet "Tin" Woody. Toughest project I ever did. But, I did everything that I could do myself. I'll admit that chrome costs, tires, ect., are a given; However, building an engine, transmission, and stuff is the part that I get a kick out off. The wire harnes on the English Hudson that I am building is setting be back about $400. Since I am doing it from scratch (There is not a factory built harness available) the costs are a great deal less. My chrome was right about $2500. The leather for the seats was bought from a local tanner that sells comerical. Picked them out myself at $90 bucks a hide. My wife will sew them up for me. I have just painted the fenders and runningboards--in front of my shop and plan to do the same one saturday morning with the body in a few weeks. The paint was mixed and purchased at a local shop (Ditzler Base Coat Clear Coat) and they charge me $75 bucks a gallon. I have little or no labor costs so with the 100 or so cars that I have built over the past 40 years, I have never put 10 grand into a single car. Maybe I am just cheep--but I have always figured the fun it it was doing it myself? I love the work that I see other do. We have a local shop here in Salt Lake city that does great work. They charge $200 per hour. If you figure that into the build it is easy to see how their "frame-off" projects cost 1/4 to 1/2 a million each. Too rich for my blood---got to go, it is time to feed the deer at my cabin in the mountains......
