RL Chilton
Greetings Hudson Online Community
RL Chilton has kindly stepped forward to help me with my search for a 52 Hudson Hornet Sedan. I am going to be working through Russell, a person I do not know, to potentially buy a car that I have never seen. I am placing a lot of faith in the Hudson community and in Russel.
Do you know Russell and can you vouch for his good character?
Thank you all for your time.

Micheal...
Russell is a great fellow and I will vouch for him... Like you he put faith in others when he began his Hudson journey... so you are in good company.
Good Luck in your adventure.0 -
If you're talking about Russell Chilton from Texas....Absolutely!

I'd trust him, 100%. No doubt.0

Russell is among the finest people I've ever met, you can count on him.0
-
I never met him but he seems to have a good knowledge of Hudsons and a sense of humor too. Personally, my dealings with those on this forum have been positive and when they say they're going to do something, they keep their word.0

I can only add positives to the above posts. I spent a week with Russell (and his 5 year old son, Miles) going to the National and back. You share ride and room with a person for a week you get to know them pretty good. My impression - Russell won't steer you wrong.
You are in good hands with him, Michael.

You can trust Russell. Wish there were more people like him in this world!

Just a general thought here, folks: with Russell, there is probably going to be little if any dissent. I think most people agree he's a great person to deal with.
But in the future, it might make sense to ask, instead, "could people please vouch for the character of Joe Doakes by e-mailing me at _____@____." That way, you'll get the benefit of everyone's opinion without (unwittingly) turning the Forum into some sort of popularity contest.
All it takes is some sourpuss to say something really appalling about someone, then we start getting into name calling and fisticuffs. (Or, if we remove the negative comment we're accused of censorship!) A negative rating can either represent a candid opinion, or it can just be mean-spiritedness, revenge for an imagined wrong against the writer.
Addressing personal opinions by e-mail seems, to my way of thinking, a preferable way to handle this sort of question.0 -

I agree. But that Doakes character is still a rat!!0 -
I seem to be in good hands. Thank you to all who have taken the time to respond. Silence can be as damning as bad words, and that definitely did not happen.
Jon B, you bring up a very good point. I have not received any Private Messages from the board about Russell so far, so that is good. If anyone prefers to e-mail me directly, you can reach me at mjsandbe@gmail.com
I am quite excited to move from being a HET club member with a Buick, to a HET club member with a Hudson.
Thank you all0 -
Michael S,
Thanks for the opportunity to say how I feel about Russel. Although he is a younger fellow (at least younger than I am...), he reminds me of a of a time you hear about of long ago, when people seemed to be more sincere and ethical in their treatment of others. When a community helped individuals and the community became better for it. This guy will help you, simply because he thinks it's the right thing to do! He genuinely likes to help others. Russel is a great asset to the Hudson community.

What it is, it ain't about being a car club - HET is a "people" club. In the 40 years I've been agitating people around here I've figured out that it's a 50/50 bet as to which is more important - cars or people.
I finally came to the conclusion that this is a "people with cars" club!!! It is one big more or less happy family. Like any family there are skeletons in the closet and grouchy Uncle Ed over in the corner - but that just makes it all the more interesting.
Like others I've been a member of several car clubs over the years - 40 years later they are forgotten history and I still share the hopes and joys, the good times and bad times, with my Hudson family.
