I hate it when folks just let decent cars rust in place. Still if you really want a coupe and can fix the back end this may be your ticket, but I don't know that I would pay this much!

  • Dan, This car was around on ebay before with a price that was too high for most ebay bidders. Seems like it about a year ago.

 Egad! What a mess! Still, with a good donor rear frame section, she's got some potential. It is a coupe, afterall. For that matter, it would make a good candidate to help save another coupe in better shape, frame-wise.

'48-'49 coupes don't seem to get as much demand as '51 and after.... Hornets no doubt..... but other models seem to follow that rule. Maybe it's that rear window treatment.
  • OMG! There's more rust than car there! Parts car yes. A car to restore, well, you'd really have to be desperate for this model of Hudson. I'd sooner spend much more on a nicely restored or original '49 coupe than have to go through the expense and especially the time necessary to bring this to showcar standards. Anyway, I do indeed hope he gets his money as that woudl make all our driveable Hudsons worth a fortune!
  • This car has been for sale for years at this price. If he does get his price, it will be because decades have past and it has appreciated 900% beyond its current value. LOL

:eek:I am sure that I have seen this car on Ebay last year. Overpriced then, still is. We see a lot of rust, and be certain there is a lot of rust we do not see. Probably a parts car. It is a shame the car is in such rough shape as the interior looks like the only good part on the car. Perhaps the mechans could be salvaged. Judging from the surounding picture, the seller has a rust farm. At least the tires look like they hold air and he isnot asking twenty thousand dollars for it. I thought most of the 'funny stuff' people smoked was on the west coast, but obviously it has made its way to the east coast. At least he did not give us a history lesson in Hudson racing among other things. Have a great weekend! The weather is going to change in the near future. Arnie in Nevada.

It seems that the seller is not real receptive to comments or questions. ..."a little surface rust". (?)

I'm the one who has the second comment posted which I'm glad this individual did as it really helps illustrate to the whole eBay world that "he's not running on all his cylinders".
  • Rust farm... LOL I almost fell out of my chair. So, does anyone know what a bushle or peck of rust is bringing these days?

:eek:I just re-read his description and in it he mentions a plan to take it to a shop for a little body work and paint. Question, what is the paint going to hold to?This seller is a couple sandwiches short of a picnic basket. I read his replies, he thinks he really has something special. Let it sit another year or so and he won't have to worry about comments or even selling the car. there won't be anything left except a pile of rust. I was wondering what he was smoking, now as I look at the car, It is an example of what happens when exposed to meth for a period of time. Age progression, in a few short years. Actually it was a '50 Merc. But then that funny stuff....Arnie in Nevada
  • After looking at their other items on eBay, I cannot believe they sell anything at all.
