got the Richard Pridemore disc brake parts in, was set up for a stepdown, but will work on my 41, as well as my 37 tplane. heres the bearing scoop... on the inners, use stepdown cup (race) timken #15245. use 47 and earlier cone (bearing) #15118. on the outers, use stepdown or pre 47 cup timken #09195. use 47 and earlier cone timken # 09078. (this is similar to the stepdown outer bearing, but is 1/8" taller, alowing use of stock spindle nut and washer with no spacers needed. it has same .750 bore or I.D. the inner bearing has a 1.1895 bore on 47 and earlier, stepdown inner has a 1.250 bore. I still retained the 47 and earlier seal McCord # 84002. put on my stock 1941 hudson 16" x 4.5" steel wheels, fit with no contact with brake caliper! will look dead stock when done, but will stop like a new car! (I'm using a disc brake ford 9" rear end also).:)

I am using a ford 9" rear end from currie engineering. ordered it at 55 and 1/2 inch long for the housing. with axles it will be 60.5 inches wheel to wheel mount. for the front brakes, good 8 page instructions come with the kit. uses dodge stealth rotors and 80-85 malibu calipers (my 99 S-10 has same calipers also). calipers were $10.00 each new at O'reillys auto parts. 16" hudson wheels fit well, 15 inchers should fit also. no modifications to spindles needed. this is an easy to install kit, could of did this one in my sleep!!:)
  • Sounds good. What ratio did you order and how much if I am not being too nosy?

    Thanks,

    Allan

I'm using a 3:70 ratio, but thats behind a 2007 LS2 vette motor and 6 speed trans with double overdrive! the total rear cost is probably around $2500.00, but I used a Strange nodular iron pro case, billet steel 1350 yoke, detroit tru-trac posi, motive gears, Strange axles, etc. all the best money can buy. I did not buy it complete, setting it up myself.:)

What did you do for a master cylinder? Use the original one?

Richard Pridemore also sells the bolt on master cylinder bracket to accept a 1980 Chevrolet monza master cylinder. he includes instructions for that also. I am going a different route, using an extended mount dual 7' power brake booster, along with my hydraulic clutch cylinder for the T56 6 speed transmission. also I'm using Cadillac seville rear disc brake calipers on the rear end, they have a spring assist piston return, so I use a drum/disc master cylinder and proportioning valve, instead of disc/disc proportioning valves like other 4 wheel disc systems.:)
