Yes there were three types of aircleaners offered for the twin H. Oilbath as shown in the picture. Oiled metal mesh which appear to be the same as the paper filter type of aicleaner and the paper element or so called dry aircleaner.0 -

I am currently out of town right now, but next week, I'll look in my shop. I believe I have the pieces that go on the side of the windshield. I'll get back to you first part of next week.
Lance not responding to my msgs , even though hes been active on this forum.. so im right where i was . Still missing a lot... Is everybody on vacation ?0 -
A lot of Hudson folks are at the Nat'l. this week. Always a slow week on the forum this week.0

hey - according to the rear lights - check this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Makes-Hornet-51-Hudson-Hornet-4-door_W0QQitemZ280254531864QQihZ018QQcategoryZ6472QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
that car is a '51 , and has the same as mine.. are they also not originals ?
to be honest - when i took the original ones , which i bougt on ebay , they didnt fit perfect.. actually they would need "some" fitting...
what do You folks think ?0 -
thode taillights are not hornet or commadore but art the super and pacemaker lights0
-
The seller has pics of two different cars in this auction.0

The "Hudson Body Service Manual 1948 - 1954" has the wiring diagrams and is available from the HET club store.0 -
gh. 1000$ , expensive ... how about the wiring diagram ? couldnt find it anywhere...
one more issue - the part that hangs the rear spring to the chassis (shackle i guess) , are those avalible ? mines in pretty bad shape...0 -
a thousand is cheap for all the headaches and time it will save you...0
-
right now my biggest headache are the trim parts. those are hard to get even to sedans... the one below is close to impossible.
im thinking if i could reproduce it myself.. i dont have too much time, the sandblasting is done , im dealing with the body right now , according that the package will come to Poland in about a months time , or even more.. i have to hurry:(
oh , and those are not mine0 -

OK , moving further. My car is painted already , now im facing new problems - electrical instruments;
The old gauges were cut off , and i want to bring them back to life - anyone tried it ? of course they go on 6V instalation , dont they ?
My old temperature sending unit was replaced with the mechanical one , is there any replacement that would work with the Hudsons gauges properly ?
How about the switch that prevents the car from starting on a gear other than parking ? is there any replacement and where should it go ?
Thanks for yor help0 -
Yes it should be a 6 volt, positive ground (earth?) battery. Unless the previous owner has changed the electrical system.
Did you find a wiring diagram?0 -

The temperature and fuel gauge will work properly at 12 volts if your gauge block has a current limiter on it. It looks sorta like a circuit breaker and has wires going from it to the two gauges. If yours is equipped with this limiter/regulator then the gauges willk work fine on 12 volts. My '51 was factory euipped with the limiter/regulator,and both fuel and temp operate properly. The temperature sending unit can be bought at NAPA, Advnace Auto Parts or Autozone.com. It is the same one used in a 1962 Ford Galaxie with a V-8:
BWD Temperature Switch/Sender
Part No. WT125
Temperature Sender - With Light
Warranty 1 YEAR REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE
Offer Price: $7.290 -
If you haven't found a wiring diagram yet, you can see a 1950 shop manual here: http://www.hudsonterraplane.com/tech/1950/1950MechanicalProcedures.pdf
The diagram will not, of course, be the same as a 1953 but it will be similar. Much of the information in the book will be similar to your car's information.0 -
Did you find a wiring diagram?

QUOTE] Unless the previous owner has changed the electrical [/QUOTE] im affraid he didill look for this limiter , but if i dont have it , can i use any other limiter that puts 12V to 6V ?
I can scan you the wiring if you want
Dave - my car is blue as well
unanswered question : How about the switch that prevents the car from starting on a gear other than parking ? is there any replacement and where should it go ?
Thanks

Michael,
Thats great that your Hudson is blue too! Lets see some pictures. You can replace original instrument voltage regulator with NAPA/Echlin IR2, if you no longer have one.
I don't know where you can find a neutral safety switch, Can anyone chime in?0 -

heres the pict of the car , beeing assemblied.
Here i have a bigger problem - its the pivot pin on the front suspension. The thing is worn out and i dont know if theres any substitute part for that. Even if there was something , i dont have months to wait till it will come from overseas... Has anyone reconditioned the Pivot pin ?0 -
moving on... new problem occured - i have no *&%$#@ idea why this happened , check the picture - the engine should be below the bar on the firewall . it was when i dissasemblied the car. but not now.. the engine bolts literally touch this bar.. maybe its the new engine pads - were the old ones softer ? anyone had this kind of an issue ??0
-
Maybe your transmissoin mount is too high, or there is an extra pad or mount there. Suspension pins are available from a number of sources, check the restoration site. They are not cheap!0
