During the Hagley Museum car show I had a number of folks come up to tell me their Hudson family stories. Probably the most interesting was a fellow in his late 50s with his granddaughter. He was anxious to see my car inside and out. He said his Dad bought a new Hornet in the early 50s and drive the piss out of it. He said the body by the late 50s was rusted out beyond use. However, his Dad liked the engine so much he pulled the drive train and installed it in another make (he did not remember exactly what) and drove it until it finally died.

  • I was very close to installing a 308 in my son's old '46 Chevy 1/2-ton pickup, but we sold the truck before we could get around to swapping.

Kaiser-Frazier should have bought engines from Hudson.

How about the Pontiac hydramatic from Michigan that has a Hornet engine, he calls it a Horniac!

In my dreams I've put a Hornet in a '57 Chevy, with a license plate that says "PAYBACK" or "TURNABOUT."
