Water Jacket Cover Needed for 41 six

I'm looking for a replacement water jacket cover for my newly acquired 1941 Hudson six cylinder. The original is leaking and we have attempted repairs without much success. The cover is rusted in places along the bottom and we have welded it up twice. We could start over and cut out the repair and try again or build a new one, but I'd rather spend time on the rest of the car. It's running like a top and we've finally unstuck the clutch.

Does anyone make a replacement, steel, stainless, or aluminum?

If we built one would it have to have the baffle plate and "hold" the same volume of water?

Would a flat plate with an outlet hose connection (same ID as original) work?

- and the easiest option:

Does anyone have one or know of one for sale? Of course NOS would be great but I'd settle for a solid used one.

I plan on keeping this car as original as possible but I want it drivable and safe. Will probably redo the interior and keep the paint as is for a while (which is hard for me since I enjoy restoring body and shooting new paint).

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

I hope the uploaded images aren't too big... if so let me know and we can delete.

  • Got to have that baffle in there , the holes in it directs the water to where it needs to go . That is usually the bad part, made mine from stainless . Should be some around , just hang tight and one will pop up . BUD

There are still NOS originals out there, but you have to sniff around for them. You can try Ebay, or (if you're in the H-E-T) try to contact some of the "regular" vendors in the WTN's classified section.
  • Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I plan to go to the meet in Pigeon Forge at the end of October, maybe I'll get lucky and find one.

I think Joe Stinnett in FL still has a couple of these. See HET Roster.
