I just bought a 1955 Hudson Rambler Cross Country wagon, I am in the process of restoring it to original condition. It has a 6 volt 196 positive ground system, can anyone tell me anything about this engine.

As you're probably aware, your car was actually built by Nash (or I believe they called them "Nash Ramblers" in those days, before dropping the Nash name later in the '50's). The last Hudson-built Hudson was in 1954, and from 1955 to 1957, some Nash cars were "badged" as Hudsons, but were Hudson in name only, so you'll find more knowledge from the Nash guys. I'm not sure where the "official" Nash/ Rambler website is- can anybody help? The Hudson Ramblers were a pretty rare bird- most of the Hudson badged cars were the larger Nashes.

I think there are about three AMC clubs. Here is one: http://amcrc.com/

I agree, the best place to look for parts for your car will be an AMC or Nash vendor. Your car was built by American Motors (the merger was 1954) and the only "Hudson" component was the nameplate. No Hudson parts will interchange.

Try Terry at the Rambler Ranch. He is pretty good about returning emails, or give him a call.

I cannot answer your question unfortunately. I do have one for you. Is it a 2 door or a 4 door. There was a 2 door version made, I think, and was just wondering. Or could you post some pictures?

Dave Lanning of Englewood Florida (Orange Blossom Chapter) has a sharp 55 wagon that once belonged to Mr.Kruse owner of Kruse Publications (Old Cars newspaper) It's a coral or pink color and really nice. I don't have an email address for him but would be happy to pass his phone number and snailmail address to you via private message. Or you can look him up in the HET roster.
