Janet was a great lady and a terrific friend. I echo everyone else's comments that she was able to attend the Pontiac Meet. We will miss her very much. My daughter is so happy that she was able to attend the meet and see Janet one last time. My sincere sympathies to Press and their entire family. God Bless you all.

Janet was a wonderful person the very few times that I had met her and Press. Made me feel welcome at her home when I was picking up my first order of Kgap parts. We will miss her. Our prayers are with the family.

Yep to all above - Press & Janet such tireless workers for all of us via KGAP, industrious in forwarding the name of Hudson, friends to all who knew them, and helpful to all who needed assistance or advice.
My heart goes out to Press who has lost his "sweetheart" -0 -

It was 1979 I believe… I was walking the Rose Bowl Swap Meet in Pasadena, looking for parts for my ’56 Crown Victoria, my two Packard’s and my Nash. Lo and behold! I spotted a beautiful silver and green 1949 Hudson Super at one of the booths. I could not resist stopping. Although I have always admired Hudson’s more than any other car, I had never owned one. Well out comes this very animated lady, who was anything but an introvert. So friendly and so enthusiastic about the Hudson Club…before I left, I had applications for HET and CIC and a new life long friend. Actually, I don’t think she would have allowed me to leave the booth, without the promise of signing up. I think she could see the look in my eyes as I drooled over her and Press’s Stepdown.
Janet was one of the warmest and friendliest individuals that I have known in the HET club. She was always so nice and warm to my children. She always made you feel a part of the club with her infectious personality. She was always full of wit, and always, happy to see you.
Gosh…I am going to miss her. My prayers and deepest sympathies to Press and family, and the Coleman’s.

I first met Janet at a Tech Meeting that Victor had invited (blackmailed) me to, but it was Janet that was the first to welcome me, and chastize me for not driving my Hudson. A great person.
My prayers are the family.

On our first trip to California in 2004, we stopped at a Target Department store near Long Beach to get a few needed(her version) supplies. We parked and as we walked toward the store I recognized John Frome and John Clement talking to Press Kale in the parking lot next to Press' stepdown. After greeting them, they didnt know us(from Alabama), we had seen their pictures in the WTN, we ask if their wives were there. Their wives were also shopping. So I went inside to find their wives and introduce them to my wife. That was the first time to meet Janet Kale, Laurie Frome, and Jennie Clement.
Janet allowed me to push her wheelchair at Pontiac this year from the back of the hotel to the front and we rode the elevator up together. We didnt realize she was not in good health. We will miss seeing her.0 -
Janet was a great person and friend. She did more for HET and the club than a lot of people know, She will be missed. Press, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said. Janet was truly a wonderful person and she will be deeply missed by the Hudson Community.

Janet worked tirelessly for the club and CIC chapter, going out of her way to draw in newcomers and help them feel welcome and part of an event.
She did this for our family at an election meet back in '94. I can still remember details of the day.
Our heartfelt condolences to Press and the extended Kale family.

I will miss sitting under her sun shade chatting about whatever was on her mind. She was one thing I always looked forward to at the Nationals. I even called her on occasion to bounce ideas off her when we planned our Regional. She sent me a ton of information to help with planning. I will keep Press in my prayers. Bill Albright probably picked her up at the Pearly Gates in a Hudson. Rest in Peace Janet.0

From Peter Traxler (Canada):
May she Rest In Peace, she was a great and friendly Lady0 -
It is hard to lose a great Hudson enthusiast and friend. I was traveling to Hawaii last spring to visit my son and had a 3 hour stop at LAX. I thought I would call Press and Janet to see how they were. Janet answered and we started talking about everything from family, friends and the weather. She made my wait just fly by. We will miss her0

Janet and Press did so much to keep our Hudson's on the road. Janet was a great President of the H.E.T. ,and her term was much too short due to "politics". The National meet at Knotts Berry Farm in 1982 that Janet ran ,was one of the best ever, and the only one in Southern California. As a Western Region Director, Janet kept all the chapters solvent and had to deal with some "strong" personalities in a very positive way. Some of the Western Region Chapters would not exist today if it were not for Janet. This has been a really rough week, losing two of our dear friends.
There is a big void in the Hudson Community. Our heartfelt condolenences to Press and his family.0 -
From Janet's Brother, Nelson
"Press, as per Janet's wishes, requests no
flowers and says that contributions are not necessary. He did, however,
say that contributions to American Cancer Society in view of their
research into cancer cures and prevention would be appreciated."

While this isn't surprising news, it is heart-breaking nevertheless. It is certain that no one in the history of the HET Club worked harder or contributed more to the success of the HET Club than Janet did. She devoted much of her life to the people and the cars of the HET Club - in that order.
When Jeannie and I joined the club many years ago, Janet and Press were so very kind to us. For us, their selfless and giving spirit came to represent the special bonds that join HET Club members together. Through the years we worked together on the BOD and in many other ways, and built a friendship that will always be very special to us. Even with the serious health issues that she and Press faced over the last several years, she never scaled back her efforts, nor did she ever flinch from taking on new tasks for the Club.
I can't imagine that anyone who ever met her didn't love her. We will miss her more than words can say, but her legacy will be with us so long as there is an HET Club. Like hundreds of other HETers, Jeannie and I loved her like family. We will pray for Press and the whole family. Rest in peace, Janet. You'll always be the best...

Janet was always very kind to me, and made me feel very welcome when I started going to Hudson events here out west. I'm glad I was able to sit at her table at the national banquet this year....0

I was shocked to hear of Janet's passing. I always enjoyed visiting with her and Press at the National every year. She always wanted to be updated on what my sons were doing and see the latest photos of them. I am so glad I saw her at Detroit this summer but wish I had spent more time visiting with her that week. Nationals will not be the same without her. Rest in Peace, Janet and thank you for being the wonderful person you were.

Sorry if anyone is offended bringing up a near two year old thread.
I've been away from the Hudson scene for close to thirty years and for some strange reason I began wondering about one of my old Hornets the past couple days. That in turn caused me to do some online searches for folks I'd known back when. One of them led me to this thread and some sadness, especially for Press.
I'm glad Nevada Hudson already commented on the first National HET meet held in the West. Janet was a woman of power, in a good sense. She was dynamic, and possessed an enthusiasm and drive not often found in one person. Her determination to get the national meet at our end of the continent would not be denied. Knott's was a marvelous venue, and the attendance was impressive. It's no longer novel I'm sure to have a national HET meet west of the Mississippi River, but it was a big deal then...........as firsts often are.
I had the honor and privelege to act as M.C. for the banquet event. Janet had taken quite a risk to task a comparatively young, unknown club member to handle an important part of the festivities. She was one great gal, r.i.p. dear.0 -
What can I say that hasnt been said about Janet.Janet and Press, two very nice people. Press,Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Larry and Linda Neal0
