Jet won't start
:mad:I drove my Jet tonight and noticed when I was climbing a hill it wanted too miss a little. So when I got home I put in the garage and decided too check the points. They seemed like they were just a little wide so I reset them at 20 thousands. That is when everything went down hill.:( Now it won't hardly start and when it does it seems to run ok but dies then , it won't start again. I checked fire too the plugs, and was getting it, but when it died I checked the fire on the plugs again, no fire. The fire at the points seems weak too me. Could the condenser have lost its mind on me?? or is the points??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Barry Smedley

Try a new condenser, it only takes a couple minutes and then you can cross that possibility off the list.
It's always the condenser.0 -

Barry,
Make sure all the wires in the distributor don't have any cracks or places where they can be grounding out on the base.

Ken U-Tx wrote:NAPA doesn't list the contact points sets. The Niehoff/ Borg Warner part number is: AL6-24HV. If NAPA cannot get them Advance Auto Parts may be able to. I think the Niehoff/ BWD are the highest quality, followed by Echlin. Stay away from the cheaper brands if you have a choice! Quality US products may cost more, but the time and aggravation saved is worth the few dollars!
Ken-
I picked up an Echlin condenser today from NAPA. Apparently, they are now made in Mexico. At least it's not Chinese. We'll see how long it lasts.0
