Veyron-
In answer to your question, the switch that controlled the quarter lights was located on the Right side of the car (passenger side for LH-drive cars) B-Post (post in-between the front and rear door) up in the middle of the front and rear door window glass. The switch was almost identical to the switch on the front header courtesy light.0 -

Veyon:
Russell is correct for a sedan. However I enlarged your avatar and saw that you do not have the square hole where the switch would go. Look on the drivers side and see if there is a hole on the pillar. Also these lights were wired to the push button switches on the door jambs, they would light when a door was opened.0 -
Come slap me in the head, Pat, I guess I can't read the word, "coupe".
Sorry about the misinformation.:(0 -
The following is a picture of a 52 Sedan. The Sedan switch is shown (upper right of the picture). I have seen coupes with one or two switches. The single switch installs were all on drivers side pillar and operated both rear lights. If two switches they control the light on that side. The switch is mounted to the trim panel not the pillar. A nice effect would be to use the door courtesy lamp switches to turn the lights on and off... but that would need to be worked out to use another switch to allow turn on while the door is closed.0

Ken:
When I rewired my 52 C-8 I used the jamb push button switch to operate the rear courtesy lights. It is a nice touch to open the door and have the pillar lights and the rear courtesy lights come on. I forgot when I responded to Veyon that originally the courtesy lights where only operated by the pillar switch.
The main reason I did that was because I eliminated the pillar switch. The hole on the pillar is where I welded the plate for the shoulder strap for the seat belt. In my sedan there was a square opening on both B pillars.0 -
Neat change Pat.... BTW I supect U are a Quality Assurance Inspector based on your signature? In a past life I was a DCMA aircraft and electronics inspector.0

ok , so as far ive gathered this info from your posts :
SRCraftsman2 :originally the courtesy lights where only operated by the pillar switch
KEN said there were two of them , as shown on picture. (mounted on side pillars )
also Ken said :The switch is mounted to the trim panel not the pillar
, also wired to the door jamb.
To sum up (in my case)
ill install the 3-way switch (on , door jamb on , and off ) , when ill find a good looking one from any other car..
still the question remians - where on the trim panel ? on the b-post , or just somewhere near the rear armrest ??
Thanks
