The body manual covers it thououghly.

    Remove lock and garnish moulding

    Remove wood block

    Remove the upholstery trim panel

    Cut door inner liner

Remove center glass channel screws and remove or lower channell

Tilt glass inward and raise to upper limit or regulator

Release regulator cross arms from glass channell and remove glass and channell.

Reverse procedure to put it back in.

The manual is the first place to start. Releasing the cross arms can be a little trouble because there is only one spot along each channel where the runners can come free. Loosening everything up will allow maximum up and down travel of the channel and ease lining up the runners with the exit slots.

In the body service manual it explains it just as Uncle Josh did. It's a job that requires a lot of patience. Walt.

And if you want a video - one of John Fromm's National videos shows how to do it. You'd have to ask John which one it is - I got 8 of them here and can't remember which one it's on!!! :D

  • I saw a John Fromm video on removing the vent window, I need to remove the Large door glass and replace it. Uncle Josh you said cut the inner liner do you mean the inner metal has to be cut out to remove the glass?
  • I performed this task on my '50 Pacemaker "Deluxe" some years back with no problems. As everyone has suggested, follow the instructions in the Hudson Body Manual carefully. Do make sure to apply something like door grease to the raise/lower mechanism before you seal everthing back in place. Your door window will then open and close much more smoothly than before.

No, I think Uncle J is referring to the paper liner behind the door panel.

And, yes, you are correct on the vent window. I was thinking that video covered both operations.
