Parts Identification Questions
Picked up a Hudson 6 for spare parts from the fellow I purchased my '41 from. The motor had a two barrel aluminum intake and a "dry" clutch (probably an attempt to retrofit).
The gentleman insisted I take another motor with me that he thought was a Hudson straight 8. I have no idea what this motor is but I'd would like to figure it out before I junk it... someone might need the parts.
So if anyone knows what this motor is let me know.
As far as the intake is concerned I'd like to know if bolting it on my 175 six with an updated two barrel would make sense...
Thoughts anyone?
Craig

Pretty sure that's a Buick straight 8. Don't scrap it, lot's of traditional hotrodders love building those engines. Put it on ebay.0

Looks like you've been busy. Good luck, drove the A to Iuka Fri and back. More later. Bob0 -
OR-that intake would look killer on my 36!!

Jeff, that intake won't fit on your '36 engine, only '37 and up, the "big port" engine. The '36 will only take a 1 barrel carb. Find yourself a '37 engine, it will bolt right in and the 2 barrel carb will give you 20 HP more than your '36.0

That dry clutch might just work, as it is the entire assembly. However, I'm unsure of the ability of the original steel flywheel to withstand the heat generated, without distorting or blueing. the Jet was the first Hudson to use a dry clutch, and the flywheel was much more substantial than the wet-clutch versions. What I do know for sure is that you can't use dry plate in the original assembly successfully.0

Anyone have any ideas on carb type (make model) and specs (cfm, etc.) that might work with this intake engine combo? Need not be period correct... newer carb would probably be preferred...
I have a 212 head that I plan on installing in place of the cracked 175 head (combustion chamber is larger on 212 so compression would be lower). I do have a 175 head that came of the parts engine that I could use... just need to get it milled.
Not looking to build a hot rod just more reliability (carb), looks and a little more pep.
