34 Terraplane engine parts needed

Jeremy,
Your correct, the main bearings are all Babbitt, which means that you will have to get a shop to re-pour them. When I had my 36 engine done, I had the crank ground and then took the block and crank to the bearing guy. That way your sure that the bearings are fit properly. You may be lucky and find a shop that will do it all in house. The cam bearings were very hard to find for my 36, but any good machine shop can make you a set of those. I used Effingham Grinding in Effingham Ill. They have done quite a few Hudson engines and will fit the babbitt correctly. I'm sure there are other good shops that the other guys will chime in and recommend.0 -

Working on rebuilding my Grandpas pride & joy a 1934 Terraplane. I need the 3 main bearings for the engine sized 20 under. Called several companies & unless someone has any left over the originals will need to be rebabbited. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Jeremy in Florida
Jeremy, Try Northwestern Auto in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 616-241-5611. Or
northwesernautosupply.com. They may have the bearings you need.

jeremy, maybe i am way off on this, but i believe the '34 block is the same as my '35. unless your engine has been reworked the mains are poured babbitt. the only way they accept shell bearings is if you have had the block reworked to accept them. in other words, there are no "replacement" bearings. in our use the poured babbitt bearings will outlast you and i. regards, tp0
