262 exhaust

What is the best way to install dual exhaust on a 53 5c? Will a split pipe work alright or do i need to buy a 350$ WHEW header? J.R.

    J.R. - Contact Danny Barrier, 200 Newburg Rd, Hohenwald TN 38462 or call him at (931) 796-5194. He has had the "7X" dual outlet manifold adapter recast, which simply bolts up to the main exhaust manifold and allows you to install dual exhaust pipes. Some time ago, he advertised in the WTN these units at $ 175 each.

    I think Danny sold his interest in the project. Don't know who is doing them if ANYONE..
  • I have the Danny Barrier patterns/core boxes. So, Danny isn't making them anymore. Its not something I wanted to do or have, but they came in the package deal of the rest of his parts.



    I'd like to make more, but do not have a foundry anywhere near me that will run small batches or that I can maintain any form of quality control over. The patterns etc. are still for sale/trade, these are good pieces that need to be out there.

    Mark, I've noted that the Aussies and New Zealanders are able to get low-quantity foundry work done, and at reasonable prices. Might be worth investigating to see if it were feasible to produce there, even with the considerable shipping distance.

    One of our NZ HET Club members has periodic small runs of 1930 Essex exhaust manifolds cast. I could enquire as to who he recommends, or I can put you directly in touch with him if there is any interest. PM me

    I'm 41 with a young family, have a day job, and run our farm.



    I find myself with little time for hobby these days, much less taking on another endeavor. The best option would be to sell or trade the patterns and let somebody better able to deal with them do so.



    I was asking $1500 for them, which is reasonable in my opinion due to the established sales price. Its also considerably less than what it would cost to have the patterns re-made, about 1/2. I'm open to trades also.



    I have nothing against our brothers from down under, but if these things are to be cast down there - somebody down there needs the patterns and full control over the business. I just don't like long distance deals like that because I can't inspect the product until its too late or have a face to face with the foundry. I'm old fashioned like that and don't intend to change.

    I know that they have recently moved and may be experiencing some hopefully temporary organizational issues as a result (this is purely conjecture on my part) - but is this something that K-Gap might consider bringing 'under their wing', so to speak?

    Just a suggestion, so please everyone - don't go throwing rocks my way, ok? - At least not all at once... :o:p;):D

    Not throwing any rocks, its a great idea. I'd swap them for some speed parts that' make me happy and he'd have another catalog item.

    Someone in the region should be able to cast these parts for short runs. There is a fellow in Huntsville, AL that owns a company that makes intakes and cold air induction (CAI) parts for late model Mustangs and other applications.



    He's told me in the past that these parts are made in the USA. Granted he is one of the top sellers nationwide and is advertised in major pubs, but I'd venture to say he does some smaller runs on some of his pieces. He's a pretty good guy and I'm sure he'd be happy to offer advice or refer someone to his manufacturer.



    If anyone is interested in his info or would like me to call him just let me know. Oh, the company is C&L Performance and the owner is Lee Bender.



    My daily driver is a Mustang and I use C&L Racer CAI. BTW, the website shows some of parts that are plastic... click on links at the site for his manifolds for examples of their aluminum cast products.
