Roth T-Shirts w/ HET Logo on sleeve?
I posted this on the Street Rod forum but thought there might be some interest here. I have talked with our chapter president and if this becomes a go, we'll put it out into our monthly newsletter.
I emailed Ilene Roth widow of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth a few days ago and told her I had posted on our street rod forum that she had a '46 or '47 Hudson pick-up on one of Ed's shirts called "Joker's Wild." Some of the guys on that forum already bought them. Below is what I posted to the Street Rod forum.
I don't know if this should be restricted to selling only to the HET Club members, but personally, I don't think it should. We should do anything if it gets word out about our Club.
Ilene Roth, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's wife emailed me after I told her I had posted the Jokers Wild t-shirt T-Shirt and wondered if we would like a one-time run of a Roth T-Shirt with the HET Club Logo on the left sleeve. She is really a nice person and when she saw you guys buying shirts, she wanted to know if we wanted the shirts. She uses the shirt sales to help the family out as well as keep Ed's copyrights in the family.
She has made a nice offer and I don't now how many folks would buy one, but I think it would be great. It helps out the Roth family and gives us a personal shirt to boot. Sounds good to me, but any interest out there?
I also asked her if they had another design with a Hudson, Essex, or Terraplane with a stock motor or no motor showing. I'm sure she'll look into it.
Just think how many other clubs out there would have something like this? Our chapter president and I think it could be a fun thing and a piece of history. How many of you out there collected his cards and stickers when you were a kid. I think it's an offer we should take up. I am waiting for her to email me back, but in the meantime, I would like to be able to tell her some rough number of how many t-shirts we would want.
I'm NOT real good at writing up stuff, hope this all made some kind of sense! LOL
Please email me at jayeldridge@cox.net or pm me. I need to know how much interest is out there.

I want three shirts for my family. Big Daddy Roth was an icon in the custom car world when I grew up. I didn't know that he appreciated a Hudson product to use one in his artwork.0

If I could ever find a job - I'd buy one - but I'm tapped.
Some might not have liked the man, but the artwork lives on and was a big part of my childhood as well.0 -
I'd take an XXL and two mediums. I also grew up with his stuff. I still remember my old "I'd rather eat worms than drive a Chevy" T-Shirt!
Jay, I wonder if you could pass along my contact info to her. I'd be interested in a T-shirt business venture with her. hetnptelcel@aol.com
Drop the het. 310 502-5335. Thanks, Niels
P.S. Put Rambo in for a T-shirt aswell. It will be my x-mas gift to him.0 -
Is it possible to customize the original artwork just a little? I'd love to have one with the original "Joker's" boldly lined through and "Hudsons" written above it instead! If this artwork goes on the back of the shirt, how about the HET logo on the front vs. the sleeve?0

I believe that a Ed Roth logo is on the front upper left on the shirts. I will ask about the name change, but I think it might be too much too be asking to make a change to an original design. Though I understand the reasons for asking, I don't want to seem ungratiful by asking too much of them.
But, please keep the thoughts and interest coming. I am waiting for her reply.0 -
If the Roth art is on the front on one side, I'd put the HET logo on the opposite side of the front.0

As I said in the other thread, I got my shirt in the mail on Friday and it looks great, nice job on the grill area and the truck. The front has 'Rat Fink' small over the heart.0

You're too kind!
All I want for x-mas is some work... at this point I've all but given up on being able to keep the house
(but "Rambo" wears a XXX if Santa is so inclined)
