Question on wiring
I am beginning to rewire my 54 Hornet Special. I am using a wiring diagram from a 54 Hornet. Does the Special wiring have a different color scheme from the Hornet? The reason I ask is as I am pulling wires and matching them to the wiring diagram they often don't match. For example, the Horn Button Wire that I pulled from the car is red with a yellow swirl. The wiring diagram says it is supposed to white or black. Someone enlighten me please.
Thanks,
Doug

While I am no expert on the colors of the wiring used between models, I suspect that the wiring issues you are encounting is based on what was available as the factory began the transition to AMC. The Hornet Special is a transition model. If the wires are routed the same as the diagram, I would pencil in the unique aspects of your wiring on the diagram. Over the 45 years I have been associated with Hudson Stepdowns there have been numerous examples of differences between like models, with the functionality being the same.
Good luck as you rewire the car.0 -
Thanks Ken. I suspected that was the case as I understand that the Special was created to use up parts as Hudson was merging.
