Curious as to why you would want one? Is your old one broke? Replacements can be found.:)0 -

Well, for one thing you don't need to worry about the heat riser tubes to the choke housing with electric chokes...
I looked when I started rebuilding my WA-1's, I couldn't find a direct x-over replacement.
But, there have been so many carbs made over the years with electric chokes - If someone had time and access to compare dimensions of the stock assemblies I don't see why you couldn't find an electric choke that would fit in the WA-1 carbs.0 -
In your search for an electric choke to adapt, best remember that most electric chokes will be 12v as they were not developed until the early to mid '70s.

Electric chokes are 12 volts. To install one you also have to install a relay to cut off power after it heats up. This system is built into the car that has electric chokes. Other wise the choke spring would burn out. If carburetor is built correctly and choke heat tube is in good condition and the manifold tube is not burned out you should have no problems. That is why WA-1 chokes have a shut off when the choke is fully opened, so as not to burn the heat spring. Walt.Is there anyway to put an electric choke on a 1953 Hudson WA-1 carb? Here's an interesting article on the history of automatic chokes, written by a carburetor restorer. He discusses the pro's and con's of electric, hot air, water, and other types of automatic chokes. I'm afraid he doesn't have a lot of good things to say about electric chokes, but maybe they're improved since he wrote this! http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Automaticchokes.htm0

Of all the headaches I got from carburators I can't say replacing the thermac coil has occured to me. I might feel different about the manual choke on my chevy 216 but haven't driven it enough yet.0
