Why or why not -- 37 frame to axle torque arms?

Okay, with my recent frame and axle discovery - Why didn't Hudson use the axle to frame torque arms on the commercial models? Seems to me that it was a stronger set up.

The objective of the torque arms was to relieve the springs from the job of holding the axle in proper position, so the spring design could be optimized for best ride and handling. These aren't such important factors for a commercial vehicle. (The torque arms are definitely strong ... back in the early fifties a stock car owner and builder in our town ran a 38T coupe and a 38 H8 coach on our 5/8 mi. high-banked track. On both cars he eventually welded the rear shackles to the frame bracket and removed the torque arms, because sometimes when the cars hit the wall, the force transmitted back through the torque arms resulted in a bent frame!)
