262 straight 6 still in crate
Came across this in Ebay this eveing.....pretty amazing. I've seen 308's in crates once in a while but I've never seen a 262 in a crate. Price sounds pretty high, but then again how many of these have you ever seen??? Thought I'd throw it on here in case anyone was "in the market" for one :-)

Thisi s John Soneff's engine. IT was listed before. I'd get it if I knew for a fact I could plug it right in a car and go but with something that's been on the shelf that long no guarentees. LOL0

No 60 year old part is a plug-n-play affair. And certainly an engine, with so many moving parts is not going to be such an animal. Maybe someone would drop it in place, but I wouldn't. $5000 is a lot of money and you don't even get a head. Add in all the accessories, at least a going through of the engine and you're looking at minimum 2-3K more. Worth it? Probably. Better deals out there? You bet!
I shouldn't talk. When it's all said and done, there will be over 10 in my engine and it has 200 original miles on it.0 -
At that price he will be keeping it.0

Actually Ken, the 262 in my gold 1950 C6 sedan was painted gold from the factory. It was sold in September of 1950 and I know for a fact that engine was gold (I have done extensive paint layer analysis.) However in the current rebuild I am going with silver just to stop all of gripping that I hear about having a gold engine in a 1950 car! Plus I wanted some contrast as the firewall and underside of the hood are gold!0
